Axis Secured - Path to Unsecured? Timeline & Closure Queries

Hey folks,

Looking for some insights regarding Axis Bank credit cards.

I got an Axis Bank MyZone secured credit card about 2 months ago. My main motivation was a specific Axis offer running at the time, but unfortunately, the offer expired before the card actually reached me.

Here's my situation:
  • Card: Axis MyZone Secured (2 months old)
  • Security: Against a ₹20,000 Fixed Deposit.
  • Limit: ₹16,000 (80% of FD).
  • Spending: Very low, only about ₹3,000 total over the last 2 months. (Spent 1.6L on other cards). I don't have a significant need for this specific card beyond catching occasional Axis offers.
  • Banking Relationship: I also have an Axis Liberty Savings Account, maintaining around ₹32K MAB. I got this account for pre-approved offers, but got a secured card before any. Not many txns nowadays.
  • Previous Attempt: I had applied for the Axis Ace card about 7 months ago (before getting the secured card) but was rejected instantly.
I've read on this sub and elsewhere that having a secured card or a good banking relationship with Axis can eventually lead to pre-approved offers or eligibility for their unsecured cards.

My questions are:
  1. Timeline for Unsecured/Pre-Approved Offers: Is there a general timeline or pattern observed by others here? How long does Axis usually take (e.g., 6 months, a year of good usage/relationship) before considering secured cardholders or savings account holders for unsecured cards (like Ace, Flipkart, Select etc.)? Does my Liberty account MAB help significantly here?
  2. Closing Secured Card: If I do get approved for an unsecured Axis credit card in the future, would I have to close this MyZone secured card? Or can I keep both simultaneously (maybe keep the secured one LTF if possible, just for the credit history)?
Appreciate any insights, experiences, or advice the community can share! Thanks in advance.
I'm a student. But I'm self-employed on my CIBIL.
