In the world of personal finance, many people are always looking for ways to manage their money better and get the most out of their spending. One popular strategy that's gaining traction is using debit cards to pay off credit card bills. This allows you to earn cashback on expenses that wouldn't normally earn rewards. In this article, we'll explore this concept and look at some of the best debit card options for paying off credit card bills.

Understanding the Strategy

Typically, credit card bills are paid using money from a bank account, either automatically or by manual transfer. While these payments don't usually earn rewards, some banks offer cashback incentives for using their debit cards to pay bills. By strategically using a debit card for credit card payments, you can earn cashback on expenses that wouldn't otherwise earn rewards.

Choosing the Right Debit Card

When choosing a debit card for paying credit card bills, there are a few things to consider:
  1. Cashback Percentage: Look for a debit card that offers a good cashback percentage on bill payments.
  2. Debit Card Fees: Consider any fees associated with the debit card, such as monthly fees or transaction fees.
  3. Account Requirements: Make sure you meet any requirements to qualify for the debit card you're interested in.

I got abnormally low rewards points In jio finance via Indus Select Debit card.
For 19600 transaction only 32 points are credited ( Approx value 10Rs)
Did you check again? What date was the transaction done on? Visa or MC? Was this your first transaction of the month?

Yes, I have checked multiple times.
The transaction was made on 25th August, And it was my last transaction of the month and till today (5th September) I have not made any debit card transaction, (From that date).
And, rhe the points credited on my debit card (Select visa Signature) is only 32.
So, I am very sure about it.

Any usage in august prior to that? If no, you're eligible for 317 points. Maybe some decimal error made it 31.7 rounded to 32,😅

Hi, if possible can you please update me which variant Visa/Mc you'll use to pay cc bill and if you receive the RP or not ?
And what app you used with merchant name?

I got this debit card just to pay cc bill, and now all I see is, they don't always give RP.

True, Indusind is known for now crediting rewards points correctly.
Previously, I was using Paytm for credit card bill payments (Select Visa Signature )
and indusind mostly gave rewards points for those transactions.
Now, Paytm has imposed a convenience fees on credit card bill payments via debit card.
That's why I was exploring different options.

Now, SBI upipay is giving points on Indus, HDFC cards.
Can't guarantee about jio finance because I didn't get rewards points correctly in last transaction.
And, for Paytm you have to bear a hefty amount of extra fees

Can you please tell me when is the last cc bill you paid by Unipay and what was the merchant name?

I am looking to pay 3L using Exclusive Visa card, and your input would be of great help.

My plan is to first pay rs. 100 on the merchant you'll tell me and wait to receive RP, if I do receive correct RP, I'll use each Exclusive DC to pay exactly 1,12,900 bill to get most out of it.

I was planning to take hdfc millennia debit card for paying cc bills for the 2.5% cashback. Is it worth applying for it now? My monthly cc bills would be around 13-16k only. Is the platinum debit card better even though it's only 1%?
As you bill payment is below 20k, go for millenia dc. If you open hdfc savings max account through physical mode you can ask for millenia card instead of platinum.

I had received millenia dc in my welcome kit after opening savings max account. Then I raised request for platinum dc and received after few days.
