Credit card for School education spends

I have tried to post this topic on various threads without much response and Seldom see posts from other users asking similar question. While not useful to many, Education fees goes into lacs for many and is a big expense.

In my case, the fees is collected via an App called Eduqfix. The School doesn't accept fees except cheque. Eduqfix charges certain fees for using a credit card. Also, many cards do not get cashback/ Points for paying school fees as per MCC code.

I was considering getting something like a Kotak IOCL Rupay or Tata neu infinity credit card to make UPI payment for school fees.

What are the thoughts of other card holders?

Which cards do you have? There are many cards which give points on education. IDFC Wealth, Select, HDFC DCB, Axis Atlas, Magnus, SC cards (Ultimate or smart), Amex Plat Travel etc... many are there. On all these cards you will recover the extra charges and get reward points

Most of the Schools PGs are charged 1.65% with GST its about 2%. Unless one has cards that are above this, its not worth.

Use ICICI Amazon CC for 1% cashback plus additional 1% when you repay using HDFC Platinum DC
There is also IDFC Wealth CC for 2.2% plus additional 1% when you repay using HDFC Platinum DC, but not 100% sure if this 2.2% applies for educational payments

Getting 1% cashback in statement (like Airtel Axis) or reward point (like Amazon ICICI) is normal. Use any such card if you have. Premium cards may be another option if it will help to achieve milestone benefits.
