Eligibility Criteria for ICICI Emeralde Private Metal - Discussion

Today, I met a new and good branch manager along with the new Relationship Manager (RM). After I filed my complaint, the branch manager himself visited my home and had a 30-minute conversation with me. He assured me that he would provide me with the welcome kit and the card. He just asked me to give him one chance. Hearing this, tears welled up in my eyes 😅—especially after the introduction and after he got to know everything about me.

Regarding the card, he mentioned that he would forward my request. This card is not easily available to just anyone. According to the branch manager, currently, fewer than 1,000 people in India hold this card. Moreover, just being a Wealth or Private Banking customer is not enough to qualify for it. One needs to meet specific criteria.

He mentioned something about 'PPOP' or a requirement of maintaining ₹50,000 (unclear), which is extremely difficult to achieve. Another way to qualify is by having an Income Tax Return (ITR) of ₹1 crore and a Total Relationship Value (TRV) exceeding ₹3 crore. The final option is to receive a direct invite, which is highly unlikely 😅.

Tomorrow, they will first calculate my TRV and then inform me whether I am eligible for this card or not. After that, approval will be required from the Zonal In-Charge of my area, followed by the Credit Card In-Charge. Only after getting approvals at all these levels can someone obtain this card.

So, one thing is clear—whoever has this card is either very lucky or extremely wealthy, because it is not meant for everyone.
Or extremely connected bro, I am neither wealthy nor lucky , just a common man 🙂

Obviously. It's a year-old image. I have been using my card since last May 2024.
I think you should take a look at the older EPM card thread, we discussed all the eligibility criteria and process in detail there. This is the second time I shared this image.
Can you share that thread?
Is the card approved and reflecting in app??
Here it is…the original posting…

@Dr.Anand456 @abhiaj98 @BVC and others - This is the official eligibility for EPM as per bank.

Got it from this video.
Yes, I have already watched this. But these are official records. It is not necessary that you will get the card only if you meet these criteria. Your past relationship with the bank, your current credit card, and the status of your existing account matter more in the approval process.

Has anyone asked if EPM could be offered as an upgrade based on spending criteria, similar to how you can upgrade to Infinia from DCB/Regalia Gold if you meet certain spending requirements in the last 3-6 months and have a credit limit of 10L on the existing card?

ICICI should consider implementing this criteria because, as it stands, the EPM card feels almost impossible to obtain. It’s difficult to compete with Infinia when getting EPM requires twice the effort.
Everything will be clear in a few days.

I mean it may take a lot of time for approvals given there are so many, and any one of them can delay it ghost
I understand. However, it's too early to say anything for certain. The details will only be clear once a new user's card gets approved. There might have been some changes in the process, especially with the increased demand. I'm hopeful that the rules have been relaxed or improved in some way. Everything else will be clarified soon.

Right ofc. Thanks for patiently explaining your pov.

Yes, hoping for a bit more relaxed process to get this card. ICICI has a winner in its hands after the launch of iShop and it should try to get a decent customer base for EPM before financial year end.

In my case , i am definitely rooting for a spend based criteria as i have a hefty spend of 8L coming next month and will happily do this spend on my LTF sapphiro if that opens up the possibility of EPM upgrade 2-3 months down the line.

At this point, I guess many are willing to let go of 40-50k gains to get hands on EPM!
Be it in terms of Lost opportunity for holding funds in Icici or cc spending on their non rewarding cards.

It's the talk of the town!

I know people who are rushing to banks to get this card and moving their funds from Axis/HDFC to ICICI.

One definitely need good trv, but nowhere near to officially mentioned figure.

Good connection with BM is needed. And BM should be willing and capable to get you card if you can give him some business. I was also told about PPOP, but I was clear with my BM that it's give and take. He can take care of approvals & whatever criteria they need internally, I will give him business from my friends/colleagues.

Today, I am happy that I went for EPM last year, even after almost everyone saying it's not worth it. I wanted to try it for one year to check out its usefulness with my usage. With recent revaluation, my bet paid off.

I talked with my BM about getting EPM for sister-in-law, she has salary wealth management account with bank but in other city branch. My BM has given his nod that he will get her card. I just have to do some official work favor to one of his family member, can't disclose it in detail. But it's very doable for me as it's under my jurisdiction & easy.

So the summary is, one don't need to be super rich to get this card or whatever PPOP thing they say during negotiation.

If you can give good business or you have powerful position in your professional place/business which you can use for leverage/pressure to your advantage, it should work.

Yes. Then there is this iScore also that ICICI considers to evaluate the overall relationship.

Good decision on your part to get EPM last year.

Given the experiences shared by people here, this card still is extremely difficult to get and one has to navigate tough waters to get it through.
ICICI has gone with iShop for a reason and i hope they streamline the approval process for EPM and not stick to extremely stringent process as it defeats the purpose.
