Experience with SBI Rupay-JCB Debit Card

As my SBI MC Platinum card was close to expiry, I felt the need to look for a better card. Aftet reading @Abhishek012's post regarding SBI Rupay-JCB DC and the features it was offering, decided to go for it.

SBI Rupay-JCB card cannot be applied online, so had to visit the branch for it. So, I made visit to this branch for the first time. The branch looked like it was older than me. I felt I was back in the 80s. The branch belonged to State Bank of Patiala before its merger with SBI.

The overall process was smooth. The staff were polite. Things have started to improve lately in public sector banks. Even though in the first attempt, they sent me Rupay Platinum, they admitted their fault and helped me get the right card this time.

Got the card after 5 days delivered by India Post. The design is average though.

Got it primarily due to zero forex charges.

If signature is updated in ur account, then from anywhere ☺️

Ohhh but non home branch people saying u can permanently block the card at any sbi branches but u can apply the card at only home branch like that they saying!

Mere SBI account mei barely 5-10k rehta hai avg.

As suggested by @Abhishek012 I blocked all cards on my account and applied Rupay platinum JCB via Branch. Can see a new card reflecting in my account with BIN 3538 the very next day.

Card is yet to be dispatched/delivered.

I requested for the same Rupay platinum JCB card yesterday and I can see it in my account today (starting with 3538). 🙂

SBI Branch refused to issue this card saying Salary account with 1L credit for 3 months required for this.

Same with my nearest branch. Did you go to another branch and successfully get the card?

Or a different 5th/6th number can change it to some other card? IT IS JCB Rupay platinum card according to some posts like this and this.

PS: I had written "RPJ" at top of the form in large size as well as at the place where we request debit card. SBI employee also wrote "RPJ" after taking the form.

3538 is dedicated to JCB. Infact range 3528–3589 is dedicated to JCB for various banks. 5th and 6th digit won't make difference.

I submitted the form in my nearest branch today. I wrote 'RPJ' and 'Rupay JCB Platinum' on the top of the form. They took it, stamped it and signed it. Didn't give any acknowledgement. Hopefully they issue the correct variant.

Tracking says "Consignment details not found" though.

Actual dispatch may take 1-2 days more. Or may be speed post tracking is not updated in real time (has happened before).

Edit: Tracking info available now. Booked today from Manipal.

What are charges for this JCB Rupay Platinum card ? Issuance fee ( 300 + gst ) and annual charges( 250 + gst) both will be charged ?
How much they have charged you ?
They are charging issuance fee for this Rupay Platinum card( 300 + gst ).
Recently i paid annual fees for visa global card send by SBI by default on old card expiry , they should have send platinum variant card based on segmentation.
Now i have to pay again for issuance to get rupay platinum.
Even for wealth customers they are charges for this card .

Currently diamond segment ,want to get JCB platinum (RPJ). Is this best card in sbi rupay platinum for non corporate customer ?

Any limit on number of rupay cards for issuance in sbi.

@MrWick Thx for clarification . So it means 2 max physical cards but max 1 card per variant ( means rupay/visa/master or classic/platinum type). But virtual card doesn't matter right.
So a person cannot have 2 rupay or 2visa or 2 master physical debit cards in sbi ?

Many users already have SBI Indianoil RuPay Platinum DC and SBI RuPay JCB Platinum DC.

But some SBI accounts are not allowed to apply 2 different RuPay variant Platinum debit card.
