Experience with SBI Rupay-JCB Debit Card

As my SBI MC Platinum card was close to expiry, I felt the need to look for a better card. Aftet reading @Abhishek012's post regarding SBI Rupay-JCB DC and the features it was offering, decided to go for it.

SBI Rupay-JCB card cannot be applied online, so had to visit the branch for it. So, I made visit to this branch for the first time. The branch looked like it was older than me. I felt I was back in the 80s. The branch belonged to State Bank of Patiala before its merger with SBI.

The overall process was smooth. The staff were polite. Things have started to improve lately in public sector banks. Even though in the first attempt, they sent me Rupay Platinum, they admitted their fault and helped me get the right card this time.

Got the card after 5 days delivered by India Post. The design is average though.

Got it primarily due to zero forex charges.

@MrWick Thx for clarification . So it means 2 max physical cards but max 1 card per variant ( means rupay/visa/master or classic/platinum type). But virtual card doesn't matter right.
So a person cannot have 2 rupay or 2visa or 2 master physical debit cards in sbi ?
yes exactly. But you can try to apply via branch. Sometimes, system lets the request go through !!

Ok it is not 100 percent to get card approved. If card is declined there will not be any charges.
And I can apply again anytim.
Dc issuance charges are levied always?
But risky as existing card get blocked.

3538 is JCB Rupay platinum, see the attached image.

Or a different 5th/6th number can change it to some other card? IT IS JCB Rupay platinum card according to some posts like this and this.

PS: I had written "RPJ" at top of the form in large size as well as at the place where we request debit card. SBI employee also wrote "RPJ" after taking the form.
Delivered today by speed post.

Hope it works in ATMs of Bali. 😎

Quoting my reply from this post.

"I keep 8-10k in my account. This account was opened just to get a locker near my home. They had asked me to give them a FD of 50k.

Just now checked my latest statement, and it says, "Segment - PLATINUM"."
Do inform if they charge any Issuance fee. Issuance is said to be 300+gst and Annual fee 250+gst. So first year you will probably have to pay ₹550 +gst

My experience with SBI branch was pretty decent. I went to the branch on Friday afternoon, the lady at the counter was busy, she told me to fill up the form. I told that I wanted to apply for a specific card she said to write the card name you want to apply. I filled the form with card code, submitted it and left. After 2 hours I got a feedback service sms from SBI for the debit card. Got the speed post AWB on Monday and today (Wednesday), the card got delivered.

I did not block any debit card. I hold MC global physical and virtual rupay debit card. My segment is gold.

What are charges deducted ? Issuance Fee and annual fees ?

Thanks for the update.
Any info about international (overseas) lounge access due to its tie-up with JCB?
They are claiming it has international lounge access
But when I tried registering for LoungeKey
It says card number is invalid
Waiting for Rupay response on this
PS : Many users are facing the same problem
