Federal card rejection - RBIO complaint

Hello guys,

I applied for federal bank credit card and it was rejected without any proper reason. They have also mentioned that their decision is not directed by my credit worthiness

I requested to provide precise reason of rejection as per the RBI guideline and they didn’t oblige.

I raised a complaint to RBIO for the same. Today I got a reply from them that the bank account statement I uploaded (while applying) was not as per their expected format.

I have attached SS

However, I uploaded the standard ICICI bank account statement which they provide through email. If it is not as per their expected format, how did it go through the initial validation (by their system)?

This is a bogus excuse they are making up to avoid RBI charges.

Please advise, what should I do now?

You should wait the official reply from RBI. The bank reply to the RBI, which will be scrutinized by the RBI.
Then it will be conveyed to you by the RBI.
Yes, I’m waiting for that only
I haven’t lost any money… so not a big deal for me if it doesn’t go with my side

But the way federal bank cancelled a lot of application in recent past without any proper reason, I wanted to give them a fight 😂

Even my application is rejected.
Can you ask them to share the format they are asking for, then it would be clear??

Also please keep here posted ,because see how much you can do from your end then I will raise a similar consumer forum complaint and chase them.

I didn’t check that… but that tool generally doesn’t do that

Even if that’s the case, the real time validation should have caught that

Else they could have emailed me to with the issue asking for the new statement

Now I can’t even apply… system is saying your application is rejected

That’s why I raised this to RBIO

I’ll fight till the end… and let’s see what happens
Do you think they have state of the art AI system validating everything automatically? No one has that. There may be some basic auto validations but the complete validation is always done manually.

You are required to upload the same PDF that you got from bank by mail and share the password with them (in case it is password protected). This is the expected format. I download ADHOC statement which does not have password and is easy to share. If you use any tool, the metadata has the info that the file has been edited and can be a valid reason for rejection.

No comments on why they can't ask for resubmission if it is not in expected format.

I uploaded the same pdf which I got from them over email

I only removed the password, nothing else

And could I share the password with them? There was no mechanism to do so

If you removed the password it means file is edited which gives them enough reason to reject. Next time download statement from Net banking which does not have password.

Here comes the issue with ICICI bank NetBanking
If you download the statement directly from the web portal, it gets downloaded in a very simple format which looks like a forged document…

Request you to try that if u have ICICI account

I don't have ICICI account. Don't they have option to download PDF? I have accounts with SBI, Kotak, IndusInd and everyone allows PDF download with complete postal address, branch details, everything. It is very surprising that ICICI does not have that. Can you recheck? There should be a download PDF option.

They have the option…
Sharing my downloaded statement
Have a look, I don’t think any other bank would accept that

This looks like a so forged document 😂😂😂

I tried to submit this statement directly, and it failed their initial validation (federal bank portal)
That's surprising.
