HDFC Bank Diners Club Black Metal Credit Card Launched | Difference Between the Plastic and New Metal DCB Card

If you already have spend of more than 5 Lacs from your card issue date (which is 3 months for you), then you can check with CS - they might help you in upgrading to Metal version.

I know few who got it as FYF too.
Ah okay, thanks for confirming. Not yet but have a trip upcoming next month, so can get it then. Thanks!!

I visited branch today, for getting new DCB metal card, but they rejected saying that on regalia which I hold it should be 7.5L spend in last 6 month which is TnC for Infinia.
I have salary account with HDFC and I'm meeting the criteria for salary. Anyone else faced the same issue ?

Even i faced this issue and moved out my salary account from HDFC 😀 😀 , let them happy with launching credit card but not distributing it 😀

This is a typical issue and many fail to get the card precisely for this. 7.5L spends at 1% commission is straight 7.5k profit for them in 6 months time. Also if you current CC is inferior, your reward points are slaughtered. My 4000+ RPs on MoneyBack card got converted to 1000 when upgraded to Infinia. So lesser returns and liability for HDFC.

In short, you have to earn Infinia in HDFC terms 🤣

The value of infinia RP is Re 1, and I think for moneyback it is around Re. 0.25. To keep in line with infinia RP value you have they do this. So the conversion makes sense unless value of MoneyBack RP is more than what I remember.

No, what you said is right. But difference being, MB gets you 2 points (Earlier it was 1) for every 150/- spent while Infinia gets you 5

Very minor difference I noticed is
1. DCB plastic gives access to 1000+ lounges whereas the metal one gives access to 1300+ lounges. I remember it was 1300+ lounges for plastic one. So, maybe they decreased for plastic one before launching the metal.
2. No fuel surcharge waiver.
I this no of lounges have increased with prority pass. DCB can also access these 1300 lounges. Both are via PP.

Hi everyone! My current usage is around 80K a month so in plastic DCB, I usually get that ₹500x2 vouchers every month, but if I go for metal DCB, I don't know if I'll be able to reach ₹4L in a quarter. The only significant benifit is no daily capping for me in this but then I lose the voucher which is around ₹10k per year.
Any suggestions to route my expenses to DCB or if I should go for new DCB or not?
Thanks for your time guys!

Even I moved my Salary account from HDFC due to Branch's high handed approach. Loyality isn't given the due as per experience

Considering the 2X multiplier on Flipkart through SmartBuy equates to 6.6% reward rate, does that mean that this card is better than Flipkart Axis Credit Card which gives cash back of 5% -- or am I missing something?

Cashback is different from returns on miles. FK card is basically a cashback card and HDFC metal card is basically for miles. It depends on you which you're considering. Sometimes Miles will not have Rs.1 value which you need to consider.

And consider about time value of money...
You will get cashback today most probably in a month.. flight you will book in a year then value of that rp will also decrease although it will remain Rs1 but still you may be not getting the same value as you may get today

Thanks for the replies. I hadn't thought of that perspective -- time value and seeing this as a miles card. (I'm new to this game)

Currently, I'm in a role that requires me to travel every three months so I guess the HDFC card might work out better since value with be Rs1 for hotels and flights.

On a related note, how do I convert RPs to Emirates Skywards miles? I saw an article on it here https://issuu.com/mohansingh32/docs/best_credit_cards_to_earn_emirates_skywards_miles_ but it doesn't talk about how to do it and Google didn't help either. I currently have 15k miles there which isn't enough by itself but was hoping that perhaps with some help from the DCB it could amount to something.
