Let's say I am trying to book a night which costs ~18k MB points. What is the best way to use the Free Night Credit (worth 15k MB points) to book it ?
Use 15k free points + 3k of your own points.
With points booking, remember, there is usually no breakfast inclusive. Unless mentioned.

How much will it cost to buy 3k points ? I have no idea how MB points works , thats why asking.
You have to login into your marriott account and find out. Sometime they have offers as well.
Do some readings of this thread and few other threads and some google search, then will be easy for you to use the marriott membership to the fullest
You can consider credit card point transfer. If you have amex you can transfer points to marriott 1:1 and use it for booking.

How much time does it take to get the free night credit , after the card is delivered ? I already made Rs. 2 transaction if that counts 😅. Should i make a higher value transaction ?

After the card, you have to go to marriott.com and login with your membership. And check if you have silver tier membership. Setup new password etc. The 10 free elite nights and 15k points will be credited within 15 to 30 days.

I dont even have a membership number yet from marriot . Should I create a new one ?
Also my statement got generated with Rs 2 due 😅
You'll receive a mail from Marriott afaik that's how I set up for my cousin.

Go to marriott.com . Go to forget membership. Use same email address that you have with hdfc. Check email, go to marriott website again. Login with membership and click forget password, create new password, login to marriott with your membership and password. Check your account. Download marriott bonvoy app also for easy access.

I tried till this step , then I am getting account not activated error. Guess I will have to just wait now.

I got my MB hdfc card a month ago. I even swiped immediately for more than 500 bucks to kick in welcome benefits but till date the benefits are not reflecting in my account. I had mentioned my existing mb number when I applied for card but still it's not done. When I called customer care the person was clueless and said wait for 6 weeks. Even then nothing happened. Now I had written to customer care email and to my surprise they replied saying that benefits were credited to my mb number on 9th sep and number mentioned by them (starting 3 digits and middle two digits) was not matching with my mb number. I am guessing they created a new mb number despite me giving them my original mb number. I have replied to them why they did that what is this new mb number where they credited. My question to everyone here is that how to resolve this? Has anyone else faced similar issues? I got more than 100k points in my original mb account and now hdfc has screwed up by creating new membership number about which I have no idea- no email received for new number. How to get this new number and is there a way to merge the account? 😕
