HDFC Bank Marriott Bonvoy Credit Card Launched

I got my MB hdfc card a month ago. I even swiped immediately for more than 500 bucks to kick in welcome benefits but till date the benefits are not reflecting in my account. I had mentioned my existing mb number when I applied for card but still it's not done. When I called customer care the person was clueless and said wait for 6 weeks. Even then nothing happened. Now I had written to customer care email and to my surprise they replied saying that benefits were credited to my mb number on 9th sep and number mentioned by them (starting 3 digits and middle two digits) was not matching with my mb number. I am guessing they created a new mb number despite me giving them my original mb number. I have replied to them why they did that what is this new mb number where they credited. My question to everyone here is that how to resolve this? Has anyone else faced similar issues? I got more than 100k points in my original mb account and now hdfc has screwed up by creating new membership number about which I have no idea- no email received for new number. How to get this new number and is there a way to merge the account? 😕

Go to marriott.com go to login and click forget membership, use your hdfc email.

Your new marriott bonvoy membership will be sent to your email. Check my post above, to activate your account. You can also download the bonvoy app as well. Set new password as well.

After more than a month of new membership, you can request merger of both bonvoy account by filling an online form. Then you can choose which membership to keep. All your old + new points will be reflecting in the membership account that you choose to keep. Old membership will be deleted permanently.

I did read and followed steps. But when I click on forgot membership number and then type my email id then it emails me my old mb number. The new number was not shared by bonvoy. Hdfc also has the same email id so I am assuming that they generated number using the same email id. Can same email id have two mb numbers?

No, each membership needs a different email.

You can try with your other emails in the forget membership number form. See if that works.

If not, try calling marriott bonvoy, and tell them your story and ask them to check for your membership and email.

None of the emails worked. Finally ended up calling marriott helpline and they could give a solution. Apparently hdfc staff were ignorant about the mb number quoted in the application form and since one user cannot have two mb number mapped to same email-id they created a new mb number id without email and phone number. Only my name. Wonder how these hdfc people are operating. Now the only option I have is to shut down my old mb number and merge with the new mb number since benefits are in new number. Bonvoy staff suggested this because if I merge new number with old then getting old mb number mapped in hdfc records will.again be a hassle. I guess hdfc should get an award for making life complicated for customers 🙂

I had to close my very old spg / marriott account cause of same issue.

Hdfc gets extra points / perks for making new members. So they do this randomly. Many got this card with their old membership number also.
