After taking advantage of the retention offer last year, I waited for three months before attempting to avail it again. Unfortunately, they informed me that I had recently utilized the offer, and as a result, they were unable to process it once more.
I strongly recommend against taking any risks with your premium card, especially if you have recently paid a joining fee or an annual fee. There is a possibility that they could unintentionally register your request. It would be best to wait until the renewal period and then negotiate for the retention offer.
For this very reason, I have suggested above to keep some outstanding balance on the card before requesting for retention bonus. They'll never close the card even by mistake if there is any outstanding balance.

He tried 3 times to transfer my call but was not able to connect. At the end he took up the request himself.

I have no idea, I didn't inquire specifically about this. Additionally, it is already weird for me to request a retention offer, let alone inquire about the number of times it can be availed
Same here and it cost me my Flipkart card. Wasn't prepared to directly ask for it.
I had done the closure with Select in mid-March. Only after they made me clear the outstanding and removed the card from the Cards Section, the retention team had called giving 7.5k ER Points. Does it work the same for Magnus?

I called and the lady said clear your dues and we will close it. I said my spending is not much on it so I am on fence with closing or not and you are not telling me much or trying to convince me. Then she started explaining benefits xD I let her speak for entire time and then I said I am not convinced please transfer to cancellation team that's when she mentioned 5k points xD got the mail too
Few already requested today and the SR for the same has been generated, so it's definitely worth a try.
They offered only 5k ER points for Magnus. Not sure why it was not 10k š¤
When did you raise the request for closure and how old is the card?
