If you request to close the card within one month of receiving it and haven't used it at all during this time, the bank typically reverses the fee applied to the card, and the card gets closed. I have personally tried this once before. However, if ICICI Bank starts applying any special rules for this card, nothing can be done about it.What about the fee? Will they charge the fee even without activating the card?
Whether we can cancel the card before activation?
There’s only one potential issue: if the card remains active for more than 15 days, it will likely be updated in your CIBIL report in the following month. After the card is closed, it may cause a minor negative impact on your CIBIL score in the subsequent month. This happens because a new account will be opened and closed within a single month, which might reduce your score by 1-2 points.
However, this also depends on how many accounts you already have. If you have multiple credit cards or accounts, the impact will be negligible. I hope this answers all your questions.
