Lets talk about RuPay NCMC Debit/Prepaid Card/ RuPay Metro Card/ RuPay Transit Card and share your experience and help others:

Hi, NPCI now allow Banks, Metros, Buses to accept RuPay NCMC debit and NCMC Prepaid cards.

Many people are asking me how to activate RuPay NCMC debit card ? How to load money ? How to use etc.

What is RuPay NCMC Card ?

National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) is Transit Card/ Metro Card is India. Single Card use on any Metros, Buses, Toll, Parking, Railway, Para Transit & Retail shopping etc.

You will get offline Wallet based contactless Payments option. Load Money on your RuPay NCMC Offline Wallet and use any Metro AFC gates in India. Same like any Metro Cards in India. Some Indian buses are also start accepting RuPay NCMC cards.

How to activate RuPay NCMC Card ?

You RuPay NCMC Card activate through Metro counter and Metro staff will help you to activate your NCMC card feature.

How to load money on my RuPay NCMC Card Wallet ?

You can load money from Metro counters or Online from your bank Internet banking or Mobile banking app.

How to Use ?

Just Tab on entry AFC gate and exist time tab on exist AFC gate.

What is the limit for my offline RuPay NCMC wallet transaction ?

Well, limit is decided by the banks, i shared here Bank of Baroda RuPay NCMC debit card offline wallet transaction limit -

Note - The limit may change in the future.

• Maximum per transaction limit for money add transaction - Rs. 500.
• Maximum daily limit for money add transaction - Rs. 2000.
• No. of money add transactions allowed per day - 4.
• Maximum balance in card (stored value) at any point - Rs. 2000.
• Max per transaction limit for card for offline purchase - Rs. 200 (retail payments) & Rs. 2,000 (transit payments).
• Maximum daily limit for card for no. of offline purchase transactions - 20.

Delhi Metro -

Here Delhi Metro Offer 10% off on RuPay NCMC Card payment during peak hours and 20% off on non-peak hours.

Last time i heard Delhi Metro airport expressline accept RuPay NCMC Cards but now I see it is expanding to other Delhi Metro stations as well.

Bengaluru Metro now supports all banks NCMC RuPay Debit cards, so there is no need to buy a new card to travel. Today I activated my SBI NCMC debit card service creation at the metro counter and loaded 200 Rs.

I travel by metro regularly in Bangalore, and today I checked at the Banashankari customer service counter if there was any possibility to link my existing SBI Rupay NCMC debit card. The person checked, created the service and loaded the amount.

Now the RuPay NCMC-enabled key chain is also supported to use metro stations,shopping malls and other contactless-enabled POS machines. Well done Omnicard app.



These are just a few examples and will give you an idea of how to use your RuPay NCMC Metro Card.

Mumbai BEST buses also accept RuPay NCMC Cards and they also issue their own Chalo BEST NCMC Card by yes bank but you can also use other RuPay NCMC Cards as well.

I didn't watch the full video but 2 important things i watched.

Customers will soon activate the card without visiting the Metro counters etc, everything will be online. AFAIK, its already live on few banks right ?

2nd thing, NCMC is currently not open for retail payments but NPCI plans to expand NCMC to retail payments in the future.

Also, if NCMC doesn't give discount as operator's existing card, like DMRC Smart give to their cardholder 10-20%. Why most of us will use it?

Not only this, money have to be funded through operator in case of offline txn and updation through operator terminal is required in case of online txn, a bit inconvenient method, even the same point was used to criticize the existing technology for Transit.

Ignored, funding through NFC of TPAP as it was a question and yet to be clarified and implemented.

1. can the loaded amount on wallet be transferred back to bank acc?

I have two Rupay Card, one Dr and another Cr. from IDFC & Kotak respectively, both are not not live for NCMC. 😂

Not answered in the video itself.😞

I feel it should be transferred since it acts as a wallet or pre-paid card, but considering the existing card system where such facility is not available before the closure of the card, i doubt it.

2. if i load amount in delhi metro counter, can i use the same balance in blr metro?

NCMC me abhi bahot se upgradation hoga, new new feature add hoga. Sab kuch online bhi ho jayega.

Mujhe jaha tak lagta hai main rukawat Metro ka khud ka Tender nikalne se lekar AFC gate ko replace karne tak hai.

Jitna jaldi yeh sab ho jayega utne jaldi NCMC expand karega and saare new features add ho jayega.

Ground level par he kam bahot slow chalta hai.

Wohi wali baat yaad aa jata hai “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is today.”

2015-2016 me RuPay qSPARC Card ka project start hua tha. Toh pakka 20 years baad 2035-2036 me hume NCMC pure India me ache se kam karte hue dekhege, halaki tab bhi expand karte rahega but ustime tak ek acha khasa market share ko grab kar lega NCMC.

UPI me bhi NCMC la de NFC se toh aur best rahega.

Why most of us will use it?

My 2 cents

• Once you get the card at the 100 CAC of Banks its no going back. You are locked into their system as user behaviour> switching DMRC and NCMC cards. Plus Banks are getting free new CASA at relatively far lower cost.
• New fancy thus more crowd.
• One thing is if you lose your DMRC card, the loss is limited(SD and topup). Once its NCMC enable DC or CC, loss is not limited and more vigilance is required, you have to block it immediately. New tension in case you are old aged person who comes home and checks the card is missing/lost.

I will Prefer to use DMRC Metro Card over NCMC.😂

I had Paytm NCMC- worked flawlessly.
Now got PSU Rupay and it has NCMC Wallet. Recharged 300, and then went to update balance at CS Desk. It says 'service creation failed'.
CS says to go to bank. Don't have time for that. Overall would not recommend as of now.

Use native DMRC metro card, much better.

for more info- on day 1 CS said card not activated- he will activate. Same time I asked for (more) physical recharge- he was like, activation would take time- try next day.

Next day- again, card not active. CS says- turn on NFC etc, I do.

Next Next Day- again, card not working. contact bank.

I believe, one MAY have better experience if buying NCMC Card from Bank affiliated with metro system, eg: earlier it was paytm with DMRC, now SBI.
I am waiting for no KYC, no extra annual fee NCMC Card.
