Haan aur kuch nahi karna hai, bal update ke awlaya, directly kaam karna chahiye

Anyone knows how to load State bank NCMC card using credit card? I tried Airtel, SBI Unipay, Bharat Connect and PhonePe. All have Debit and UPI only

All these cards are useless for daily commute unless you have no other option but to use it.

For daily travellers in a metro, it's best to use the local metro card as it often has better offers plus no fee. Given you maintain a minimum balance in the card, the loss of the same will only set you back 50-100 rupees or so.

For occasional travels, most metro systems are equipped with QR Code scanners which are again very convenient to use.

Why I hate Rupay NCMC as of now:

- Some cards have shi77y online recharge experience (SBI NCMC recharge portal for example)
- The balance is not deducted from my Rupay Card! (why can't I set it to auto-refill Offline balance for balance below 50 rupees or so) (Attached RBI Notification)
- Old AVMs (Add Value Machines) are not compatible. You have to wait in queue at CSK/CSDs (Customer Service/Seva Kiosks/Desks) to get the balance updated.
- Screw this, just use Tap to Pay! Most phones and cards have contactless. Metro terminals can be enabled with cabled internet. Bus/other mobile terminals can do delayed charging (just like airlines charge your card once you touch down) in case there's low signal. Just compensate Visa/Mastercard to make MDR zero or force them.

Only reason I got this card is for MTC buses, no more searching or need to carry change for bus ticket, we can simply tap and pay for ticket. For metro trains, we already have one card but, it'll be depreciated after Q1 of this year. So, Any way i had to get this card.

The minimum recharge amount etc is decided by the Metro department and acquirer banks.

RuPay NCMC has nothing to do with it. If I’m not wrong, some Metros allow a minimum recharge of ₹10 or ₹20 on NCMC.

The minimum balance required is also decided by the Metro department and acquirer banks. RuPay NCMC has nothing to do with it.

SBI RuPay NCMC and Airtel RuPay NCMC are already live on BBPS. Just yesterday, I saw that HDFC RuPay NCMC Pune Metro has also gone live on BBPS.

In the next 2-3 years, online recharge for all NCMC cards will be available on all apps and offline channels/kiosks etc.

All metros worldwide operate using offline wallet payments.

Online Tap & Pay cannot handle peak hours, the issue is not with the metro terminals can be enabled with cabled internet. The problem is that bank servers go down frequently.

In Asia, Europe, the Middle East, etc 90% of metro users used offline wallet payments.

Visa/Mastercard Tap & Pay is mostly used by foreigners in Metro and a very limited number of people in Metros.

And the example you gave "airlines charge your card once you touch down" that technology is already live for RuPay cards as well in Flights, Hotel booking, Hospitals, Car rentals, Railways, Cab booking etc.

But Metros keep all this as a last option.

It's easy to implement these things in a small population.

For a large population, solutions are designed on a large scale to address problems effectively.

In India, banks and the Metro department handle these things.

In countries where a large population travels by metro, offline NCMC-type payments are used and that is the best solution.

India’s NCMC is an indigenous technology, It has been built from scratch, which is why updates are coming gradually, step by step.

Some African and Asian countries are also interested to implement India’s NCMC technology in their metro systems.

Anyway, in the end, I’ll just say that few things aren’t understood by people on day one.

Visa and Mastercard have been around for 60+ years but older Americans were completely confident in their younger days that Visa/Mastercard would never succeed. That’s why they never used them and ironically, those same people often fell victim to scammers.

Any technology in its 1st generation is always bad/worst,
2nd generation is ok,
3rd generation becomes usable/decent,
and 4th generation reaches the best category.

When UPI was in the development stage around 2015, I told my friends about it, but they didn’t understand.

Oh yeah, I just remembered—Congress party members also didn’t understand it. You must have heard what their ministers said in Parliament back then.
