Payzapp + Red Girraffe MCC Patched

Payzapp has corrected the MCC for rent transactions done on Red Girraffe. I did a transaction yesterday and the merchant name is reflected as PZRENT. The transaction got settled today and Axis has charged a 1% rent surcharge + GST as well. So it’s no longer reflected as a utility transaction

1.As of now, people are getting reward points for it(it can be patched anytime).DCB should also get reward points.

2.There is is no convenience fee.(one trasction per month. for second rental payment in a month, I guess there is 1% charge, but I am not 100% sure)

It isn't considered as rent payment for now, who knows when they will get this fixed. Confirmed with customer care for MCC which they gave me as telecom/telephone bill. Not sure how long this will last.

Just adding another data point: HDFC Billpay (not Payzapp)+ Redgiraffe + Infinia is working with reward points credit in ~2 days.

Yes - I too got the reward points for the rent payment using HDFC Billpay + RG + Infinia . The transaction was done on July 29th and monthly statement generated today shows the credit of reward points.

Thanks for your reply @NikhilTravelLover . Is there a post on how to add and generate Redgiraffe ID. I tried - it was giving option to select amongst 'pay through bank' and pay "though credit card", and asked for a lot of details including bank account and PAN, etc. Also, it was asking for rent agreement. Any help would be appreciated.

Creating a Redgirraffe ID is straightforward.

I vaguely remeber it now.
But it will ask lot of details.
PAN details of both tenant and property owner.
Bank details.
Mobile numbers.
Valid rental agreement is must.

Once you submitt everything, it will take aprrox 1 week time for verification and RG ID generation. They do ask to resubmiit the documents if they are not satisfied.


If you are stuck at any point,do let me know.
If all the documents are valid, then it's a simple process.

Yes. Genuine users are most affected. Hopefully they should not patch it.

I just checked my DCB statement generated around mid-August. I'd made rent payment through Red Giraffe & an actual life Insurance payment. Statement only reflects points under insurance for the life insurance payment. Billing code shows PZ Nonrent. Is this expected?

Yes. Payzapp has patched rent payment. Earlier which was showing as insurance MCC, is now completely shown as Rent MCC

PZ+RG is patched if you have updated your app, if anyone can roll back to the older version then it is still counted under insurance.

If anyone has any idea how to roll back on previous version in android/iOS, please share.

In android, installing an older apk is possible but it gets disabled and the app does not launch till it is updated via playstore

For ios, we need the old ipa file which i am unable to find anywhere.

So if anyone can help or have other solutions, please share

I got points from magnus . paid 2 weeks back but the overall payout was too much . On 30k , I had to pay redgirraffe charges , then 1% + GST . overall paid around 500 .
