SBI Insta Plus Savings account

TF Premier
My brother wants to open account in SBI
We come account insta plus savings account in which vkyc is available

I want to know can we make it zero charges account like kotak 811 by not opting for physical debit card ( using virtual debit card ) and sms alert facility

Is this possible in SBI

Ya in sbi, from COVID - they have made the account with zero balance account irrespective the account type which is a good move from the bank and is beneficial to customers
If they will change this zero balance policy in future .
I think offline account will be affected.
Yono will remain zero balance.

I was gathering information from you, because my sister has to open a sbi account.
I heard, SBI people were selling insurance forcefully while opening a new account offline.
So, She wanted to open vkyc zero balance account.
But if there are so many differences between online and offline account, we may search for another bank for offline account.
In order to be on safer side offline account will be good as you need to do cash deposit frequently.
Online account will have some or other restrictions for some time .

Find best psu banks near you which have good employees.
In my case there are 4 banks near me .
Sbi , bob , canara and boi .

Bob helps their customers without any hesitation.
Other banks staff thinks, they own the bank .

I opened sbi Account because of ATM .
Sbi has high withdrawal limit unlike bob.
Also, sbi has

Hi! Sorry for reviving this thread!

I have recently (vkyc completed on 18th July) opened SBI Insta Plus account online through video kyc. I was waiting for the usernames and password but ultimately followed the forgot usernames method like @praful47 said.

As of now, I have virtual card activated and also physical debit card is showing in YONO. I also activated UPI and deposited only 1 rupee. lol!

Now, my only concern is about debit transactions. Will it be available itself or I have to visit branch to activate debit or money withdrawal? SMS says that document rescrutiny may take up to 5 days though.

Any advice is appreciated @praful47 @PANK @Das.N

If you are able to do withdrawal transition from upi then you can visit nearest sbi atm to activate sbi physical card

If you are not able to withdraw amount from any mean then you have to visit sbi branch with kyc documents

No, I can't use any debit transaction. UPI, NEFT, IMPS, YONO Cash nothing.

Here's the screenshot of the error.

I did an IMPS transaction of ₹1 via net banking and it was successful.

Should I start transacting or wait for sometime?
Well I have received the same message about document rescrutiny on the first day but via sms only.
Does it mean I have to visit branch to activate withdrawal rights?

I just contacted the 24/7 customer service and they kept saying that I have to visit branch to activate withdrawal. But I don't care about their opinion at all because mostly they know nothing.

Did you visit branch even once to do anything to activate debit transactions?

you need not to visit branch .. wait 2-3 days .
Meantime check all the details in net banking profile section like kyc compliance etc

FYF physical DC is issued. I haven't been charged SMS charges till date

Later apply for virtual DC and before completion of 1yr close the physical DC.

But remember if you ever forget your netbanking login credentials, you will either need profile password or you will have to visit branch.

So better note down login credentials, profile password and virtual DC details somewhere safe😉
Hi, I have the same query as the OP and I'm reviving this thread again.

I want to open this SBI Insta Plus account and I have no use for a debit card - so I don't want it and don't want to pay the charges associated with it. I only need a virtual debit card to activate UPI and use it.

So, when I open the account do I get a virtual card first automatically or do I get only the physical card? How do I close the physical card and apply for a virtual card? Yono? - Would be great if someone can post screenshots on applying for the virtual card
Until I read this, I didn't know that we can close debit cards.

Based on the reply, I will take my final decision on starting the online application process. Please help me
