Setting UPI for first time, some questions..

Hi Everyone,

I haven’t setup any app for UPI or QR code payments till now.. but now want to make one as it is now very widely used. I have been reading this board, some very informative threads on the same..

Still I wanted to ask which aap should I go for.. I asked the same in my school WhatsApp group, most suggest Paytm & Gpay. I use an iPhone, would like to hear what u guys suggest..

Also I have few questions..

1. Is it possible to set spending limit on the UPI linked to my bank account to my preference, like something we do for the credit & debit cards..
2. I am getting a HDFC Bank Rupay Credit Card.. will I be able to use the same on these third party apps.
3. All the QR codes will I be able to use any app I set up to make the payment.. or are they app specific..
4. Will I be able to pay for both Bharat QR & Bhim/UPI QR using any app

I personally prefer using paytm over gpay because it's lighting fast compared to gpay.

1. Since UPI is linked to your savings account you cannot set any limit.
2. Yes, but only Paytm, Mobikwik and Payzapp.
3. You can pay any QR via any app.
4. You'll able to pay all the QR's using any app.

While setting the app for the first time.. can I set it up to link only my debit card instead of the savings bank account .. if it is possible I think the debit card limit set should work..

Also apart from rupay credit card will I be able to set up VISA, Master Card, Amex credit cards for payments in Paytm app.

You don't get this option. Debit card's last six digit and expiry date is used for setting UPI ID Pin. UPI ID is linked to your savings account and not Debit debit.

Also apart from rupay credit card will I be able to set up VISA, Master Card, Amex credit cards for payments in Paytm app.

For time being only Rupay cards are allowed by NPCI. Maybe from next year or so other cards will be allowed to link with UPI.

1.you can't set spending limit but maximum limit of UPI for a days 1 lakh only.( each bank account)
2. yeah but you will only be able to send the money using credit on merchant qr codes .not on other person's qr code.
3.All are integrated .. you can use one app (prefer Paytm) and pay on any qr code in the world.
4.Yes Any Upi app works on any Qr .

Keep 2 apps .because sometimes server issue is there so ..You can use Paytm and Gpay.

I'm also suggest paytm because of speed I'm never face any payment failed issue

Thanks everyone for replying.. I will be going with Paytm..

I just downloaded the app. This KYC thing, does everyone has to do the minimum KYC or it is required only for those who plan to use their wallet to load money & pay.. will I be able to use the UPI scan & pay without any KYC..

you can use Paytm Upi without kyc but wallet has there own benefit while paytm running there offers

Go with Paytm for UPI & UPI Merchant payment {Bank Account & Rupay CC}
(AFAIK, Paytm don't has option to pay using CC on BharatQR, you have to pay using your bank account via UPI)

For BharatQR, U can go with GPay
(GPay gives option to add any CC & you will be able to pay wherever you see BharatQR

You can use Refferal from anyone for both apps

This GPay CC option for VISA, MasterCard & AMEX I read earlier it is available only on the android app.. is it now also enabled on iOS app.

also is the rupay cc option live on gpay.
