Very unfortunate. Didn't face such situations with Niva Bupa before.bad service / fraudulent communication / v v difficult to resolve any issues.. in my renewal policy ( 13 yr old policy with no claims) they deleted all bonus / riders / accumulated benefits and increased premium by 52%..Have been trying to get an explanation for 1 month.. no response even from grievance cell.. finally filed with ombudsman.. last yr they loaded obesity loading for my 5 year old son!! randomly... had to fight again and got resolution after complain to irda... and all this is normal service.. not even during claim.. imagine what will happen if u claim.. run as far as u can from. bupa.. their service sucks.. risky and fraudulent!!!!! will be porting out this yr..
send an email to grievance and see response time.. try their customer service number for spkg to an agent.. so terrible...AVOIDVery unfortunate. Didn't face such situations with Niva Bupa before.
Even i had similar experience with star health. They settled close to 50% with simple reason max claim settled. Still fighting but no confidence that ombudsman would be of any use.I have a star policy for my parents. Aged 58 and 67.
Cashless claims are okayish. Had to claim it twice due to my mother's health condition. They never pay in full.
First, for Angioplasty, claimed 2.15 Lakhs, received 1.9 lakhs. One of the reason stated as the cost of stent will be within Max allowed as per the industry standards. (Image attached)
Second, for Bypass surgery, claimed 3.5 lakhs, received 3.2 lakhs. Rest were some extra charges which they didn't pay stating various TnC.
However, pre and post hospitalization reimbursement is a nightmare. They asked me to submit all the bills, invoices, reports (original) at their branch office or send it via speed Post to their chennai office.
I sent those, but there were so many queries and follow ups that I gave up pursuing. Around 32k reimbursement never paid by them.
About the porting - I did port this policy from MaxBupa to Star in around 2017. Porting was smooth and retained all the benefits (PED waiting periods, NC Bonus etc)
Finally - I suggest you port the police to HDFC. The premium is a bit High, but at the time of claims you will feel it's worth it.
And yes, do talk to joinditto guys. They are very professional and will help you without spamming.
**I also had a second thoughts about star this year and wanted to port, however, joinditto guys suggested not to port as for my policy, it is already past mortarium period (8 years) and due to my mother's health condition no new insurer will continue the same benefits, most likely new insurer will not cover the heart related issues. So I am currently stuck with Star.
good plans:if price is not problem den go for hdfc. as age progress price difference is too much as compared to other insurance. or else u can go wid tata aig.
psu insurance require too much paperwork bt r best in settlement.
rest depends what r ur personal requirements.
Hi! Out of context question: My mother bought a star health policy from a local agent (4 years ago). But I am irritated by their constant demand for docoments and deatils and I was not provided any explanation for any thing. Is it wise to manage this policy by myself via online ignoring the agent?I renewed my Star Health policy recently for me and my parents, I had a good experience overall. Although I had some initial doubts after reading mixed reviews, I decided to stick with them as their network hospitals are still quite extensive. I would recommend contacting their customer support directly if you have specific questions—they were able to clarify many of my concerns regarding cashless claims and hospital tie-ups.
