To buy an iPhone or not to?

I've been going back and forth deciding buying an iPhone or not. I will probably go for iPhone 15 (I know its not released yet but the way how each new iteration is getting better and better battery life is attractive) or the Pro version if the rumor of titanium body is really true. But the main reason to switch is much better battery life. Was also going to buy Macbook next year so can pair with the same environment I guess.

But trade-offs from android are:
  • No customization - Yes, I care.
  • No call recording
  • Truecaller live caller ID doesn't work or so I've seen
  • No Tachiyomi support - Will probably need to read manga on the browser like a psychopath... 😐
Worth it?
All the trade-offs which you have mentioned are completely correct. If you need a phone just for work, then go for iPhone, as its more secure, doesn't hang, all the basic tools are pre-installed on app, Ad tracking can be disabled so you wont see Facebook / tracking you every webpage you visit. Battery life of any iPhone sucks, and its not likely to improve soon. On the other hand cameras on iPhone ( both front and back ) can perform much better any android expect the Samsung flagships.

That's a different(okay) ,consent of caller or receiver is required for recording.
It's their privacy along with us.
I understand but if call is being recorded and announcement is done. He/She can choose to not talk to me. It's him/her decision/consent also.

Does bank give that money as a gift?
They charge interest and gets the principal too.
In no cost EMI too, you pay GST on every EMI.
There are no free lunches in the world.

And what is this trend of Indians looking down at EMI's.
IN USA everyone buys iPhone on a network 2-year contract. That is also an EMI equivalent.
There is a word called 'Settlement' in banking for those who can't afford to pay their EMIs. You can't compare USA with India especially for iPhones and reasons for it are well known to all Apple lovers in India.

You're not getting it.
Even if you're talking with your gf/wife & she doesn't want it to be recorded.
Would you stop talking or would do it secretly.
it's subjective.
I guess You can't have privacy while being in someone else's territory? Don't call if you mind being recorded

Look bud, a year down the line, you'd not regret buying an iPhone. But you'd be curious, and question "what would've it been like"

So it's actually not a question about tradeoff. It's about if you have the finances to comfortably "try out" an iPhone.

Soch na, andha paisa hota to itna thodi sochte ki kaisa hoga. Try karke dekh lete.

So see if it fits your budget.
Androids me wapas to hamesha hi aa sakte ho.

It'll be a welcomed change, if nothing else
I will give you, my example.

My whole life i have used Android. Primarily the top end Samsung,
Like many i always believed iPhone is overhyped and overpriced.
Then my Wife got one for herself.
Once i became familiar with its ecosystem i loved how smooth it is.
Got myself one because of that.

I am not a brand loyalist. I am a better product and deal loyalist.
Tomorrow Samsung gives me a good deal for their flagship i will get that.
After all Change is constant in life.

Its not illegal as such. There are no laws defining it's use or consent requirements.
Had there been any such laws - you cust care lines wouldn't have been on auto-record mode.
All the news about recording being illegal is wet the govt -- illegal for police to record without consent, and without proper authoritative permission
Still, it's a law & I'd one gets caught, could have tough time

Also once you start using iPhone, its unlikely you will ever more back to android. You are more likely to purchase more Apple products instead. As all these apple products works really well with each other.
This is something lot many people dont get.
The ecosystem is so much steamlined it sucks you in like anything.

In EMI, we often buy what we didn't need it or wanted.

In recent example, one guy near me asked me to suggest him phone under 20k, I told I'll let you know. And now after going to shop he bought Oppo worth 33k on EMI from JABAJ Finance 🤣🤣. Almost 65% over spending.

So 70% Indians buying iPhone on EMI isn't big deal 🤝😛.

Like i mentioned, no law as such.
Just different laws that could be used as guidelines.
One such example would be --, they could sue me if I use their content for commercial purposes

Another way to look at it
Chats - they're also being "recorded" na.
Phonebanking, cust care everything is recorded. So if there was a law for doubly consent, they would've provided you a means to talk without being recorded. There isn't one 🌚

So if I stop recording a person's conversation with me - it would be because they ask me to, not because there's a law that compells me.

For Indians especially for younger generations: EMI matlab FKP (Free Ka Paisa)
