Amex plans to start 2024 with a grand reward of 1,35,000 MR points when upgrading to a Platinum Charge card.

Users currently holding Amex Platinum Travel, Amex Platinum Reserve and Amex Gold Charge card are getting these offers.
You can see it in the app, refer to the screenshots attached below.

For the heavy spenders, this is a great deal since you get multiple loyal hotel loyal memberships and do anything concierge service.

If you don't spend a lot of money but feel the points can help, you can still upgrade for the points.


If you don't need the points, you can get the Amex Platinum Travel or the Amex MRCC card which remains the best card for monthly spends between 6K-40K.

is it just me or anyone else thinks this platinum charge card has a ridiculous joining and renewal fees that doesn't justify 135k MR points?

Check this out. 135K and 72K MR points( From 3x3 referrals) can get you a free stay at this property (considering 30% bonus MB points offer) for 5N. Effectively one can stay for 5N at 71K.

I have plat travel with limit 432000 and earlier my smart earn was 180000and I closed my smart earn and took mrcc last month and limit is 1lakh currently. It is not shared in amex They don't do it. Only on cards where you have master or visa with other banks. Only thing in amex is it will bebone account and points pool up in same account as you can have 2 cc and 1 charge card. I think one has 4 in this forum which is a rare case.

Good deal. Apart from airline revenu ticket. If one has a some more points they can also buy tickets on airline and making it all the more lucrative

I think it's different for everybody, on opting you will get email which will have sale executive number.
We opted for 2 person in family & got two different emails

Saw one TnC from early Amex years, and it mentioned that Plat travel will be free of charge till you hold a Plat charge card, unfortunately no such TnC anymore. Maybe we can negotiate and make plat travel free with a plat charge.

Do this while opting for the upgrade. At renewal time they take you for granted and don't really give any good retention offers. My experience.

Once again, I contacted Amex customer care, and they confirmed that when we upgrade the card to Platinum charge, Platinum travel will be closed. However, if you apply separately (not upgrade), both the charge card and the travel card can be held.

Can anyone confirm if they have successfully upgraded from Plat Travel to Plat Charge card and are currently holding both cards?

Even if you take the Platinum charge, take the MR points.
And with your MRCC card, opt for the Taj Vouchers which will give you a much better deal.

how much taj vouchers do we get if we have mrcc?...78k???....also apart from that the best value is derived by bonvoy points?...any other points transfer available for plat charge?3
