Amex plans to start 2024 with a grand reward of 1,35,000 MR points when upgrading to a Platinum Charge card.

Users currently holding Amex Platinum Travel, Amex Platinum Reserve and Amex Gold Charge card are getting these offers.
You can see it in the app, refer to the screenshots attached below.

For the heavy spenders, this is a great deal since you get multiple loyal hotel loyal memberships and do anything concierge service.

If you don't spend a lot of money but feel the points can help, you can still upgrade for the points.


If you don't need the points, you can get the Amex Platinum Travel or the Amex MRCC card which remains the best card for monthly spends between 6K-40K.

Marriott Bonvoy GOLD?

Nothing much.
You might get free breakfasts or one class upgrade in India or Sea , but beyond that nothing else.
Especially in EU or US or even Africa there are not much benefits or MB Gold.

For GC upgrade , existing card would be closed as new card would be issued with GC details

For other cards , a new card would be generated and old one remain active

Amazon Vouchers don’t give much value.

Depends on your requirements and preferences. But to extract maximum value you need MB conversion or Taj Vouchers.

I think you should avoid the upgrade
As Taj or Amazon won't compensate the heavy joining fees.

Taj vouchers value is always less because to use these you need to book room at best available rate as per TnC.most of the time same rooms are available for 20-30% discount via member rate or other promotions.

so in reality, 78300 vouchers give the value of 60-65K.Some properties do allow to redeem these vouchers at discounted rate but it depends on luck and you negotiation skills and its not always guaranteed.

Bro it's really how you use the points.

AMEX has offers where you can transfer points to Marriot bonvoy as a bonus.

Recently, for every 1 point you were getting 1.3 points in Bonvoy.

Now for 135k points, that's 175k points if you do it in a 1.3x transfer.

I usually try and book hotels which give me INR 2 per point value on bonvoy (easy for high end hotels, hotels in Maldives etc)

So for INR 70,000, you can easily grab a hotel booking worth INR 3,00,000+ in Marriot.

You just got to play the game correct, and everything becomes worth it 😉

Confirmed with Amex customer care. After upgrading to Platinum charge, the Platinum travel will be closed, and there is no option to revert the change.

No it won't get closed. You can still have plat travel and plat charge.
