Amex plans to start 2024 with a grand reward of 1,35,000 MR points when upgrading to a Platinum Charge card.

Users currently holding Amex Platinum Travel, Amex Platinum Reserve and Amex Gold Charge card are getting these offers.
You can see it in the app, refer to the screenshots attached below.

For the heavy spenders, this is a great deal since you get multiple loyal hotel loyal memberships and do anything concierge service.

If you don't spend a lot of money but feel the points can help, you can still upgrade for the points.

If you don't need the points, you can get the Amex Platinum Travel or the Amex MRCC card which remains the best card for monthly spends between 6K-40K.

I am still not able to digest the fact of 70K fee 😀 More over my Plat Travel card is quite rewarding with 2.5K per year! Last year I got 10K+15K Taj voucher for 2.5K annual fee and 48K points! Why upgrade to Plat Charge for 70K 🙁
Isn't there an annual fee reversal on spending a certain value ? Did you pay 2.5K ?

It will be good for marriot hotels or miles programmes. It is also good for trf to Hilton hotels too. When compared to US Amex cards Bharathiya Amex cards get raw deal in terms of annual fee comes to 59k for 695 USD and benefits. And here it is 70k huhh such a vast difference. And if amex opens their own lounge in Bangalore and Chennai Hyd Airport it will be full believe as many would be having plat chg here. My imagination. 🤔.
That's not the only difference. In the US, they give you back more than the fee in several ways. They give you $200 airline credit which is adjusted against any airline ticket. They also give you $200 Uber credit which is adjusted against Uber rides and food delivery. Another $200 for some hotel spending. Another 200 for some Walmart membership and 200 for faster immigration clearance subscription and finally, 200 for digital media like Hulu etc. You can use all this in a year slowly or in one go. So you actually directly make more money from it. Probably a couple other things I overlooked as well.

The US platinum is a really good deal for most folks even on renewal.

The Indian platinum is overpriced and overhyped for what it is and mostly a ego/status card. Will be difficult for most to extract good value from it. Unless you get signup bonuses like in the title. I expect the renewal rate in India is very low for this card compared to the US.

I am getting this offer.
Already holding MRCC. Do not have any immediate future plans to travel.
Before making the decision of taking this offer.
I have 2 questions.

Can you guys please help me?

Ques 1 :- If i take this offer, will my MRCC get closed ??

Ques2 :- How much i will be paying apart from first year fee to get those 50k reward points ??

If you know, then please let me know.
Thanks in advance.
Your mrcc will not get closed.

Yesterday i got offer to upgrade my plat travel to Amex Reserve still not thought of upgrading as my aim was plat chg. I know they will not give as income criteria although i had offer to upgrade later they rejected to upgrade to plat chg. Currently having plat travel mrcc and gold chg.

Why don't close all three cards and apply afresh again?

I agree - Plat Charge is an extremely over hyped card (except for the ones on constant move)!

I canceled mine since I really didn't see any value for my lifestyle
It's not for everyone, that high price tag can only be worth if you travel a lot, spend internationally, and require frequent access to luxury lifestyle events.

What I got to know from an Amex Exec is tht even surrogate income proofs (other income / networth proof like Investments in Equity / Debt / FD) are also considered while calculating the total income / networth

Incase you have those and can increase your networth then maybe you would be eligible

Note :- Kindly cross check with Amex beforehand

Got a call today for upgrade offer (always get an email but got a call today from Amex!) offering 60k Taj vouchers or 125k MR points.

Have received this offer before and don't think either is worth 70k for me.

Now my upgrade offer this month is Taj vouchers of 60k plus Nappa Dori laptop sleeve.

What is the networth threshold?
