Axis Magnus Blocked my card terrible experience

diablorojo8

TF Select
On 30th april and about 10k short of reaching milestone spends.
Made a genuine transaction yesterday ans they blocked my credit card temporarily.
When I call and request to get it unblocked they take 1 buainess day.
They definitely are daft, after reaching this close to my milestone and not being able to get there because of this reason, will definitely irk me and I would honestly juat cancel this card the moment all my milestone points are credited.
I use HDFC and they unblock it at the same time.
Any suggestions to do this quickly? I am this close to my milestone spend.

Today, is 30th april actually,
I can understand what you're going through.
This incident has happened with me, and I can assure you that your card will be unblocked within the timeline they stated, i.e. 1 day.
I know it can cause a great loss to you, but in fact this practice is necessary considering the increased credit card frauds/scams nowadays, which can make it difficult for a bank to recover their money, if a fraud of huge amount happens, as Magnus is HNI card and it is assumed that it will have been issued with higher limits only.
This is the reason, everyone is advised to complete their milestones at least 2 days prior.
Hope you can comprehend it correctly.
Thanks!

don't close the card if you are able to extract max benefit from it. from next time remeber to complete the milestone a week before month end. problem solved. better to hit a 6 when you are on 95, instead of getting stuck on 99 for 2 overs and then lose your wicket 😅
it is known fact that axis resorts to such methods.

You sound like customer care.
Maybe someone can not do it 2 days prior. Not all situations are same.
The transaction is 76 rupees only.
If they cannot unblock it, the point of keeping this card becomes pointless.
Not many people can reach that milestone if they are not frequent travellers and I had planned my transactions.
This is definitely not a good customer experience and feels more like malpractice to prohibit reaching milestones.
If they do not unblock it today, I am not only closing magnus i will also consider flipkart as well.
Its a HNI card, the service has to be HNI.
HDFC may not have similar rewards, but their service is miles better and they actually unblock it over the call.
American Express is world class in these respects.
The transaction was done on LifeStyle (landmark group) and only 76. How is their software considering it as a risky transaction baffles me.

!
hdfc has transaction monitoring system where they instantly call you AFTER the transaction to confirm.
i have made many international and high value transactions but hdfc never blocked the transaction.
and even after OP reached them, they take 1 day to resolve as compared to instant unblocking by hdfc.
it is the same thing like RBL Zomato card birthday offer (10% flat cashback on all spends on birthday, but they would block your card after your 1st transaction that day citing 'suspicious activity' and take 1 day to unblock by that time birthday over 🤦‍♂️)

First time for me.
I will close it though or get myzone instead.
I dont have the energy to work with companies that do bad practices with me. Have around 23 other cards, nobody is as stupid and useless as these lot.
It takes 4-6 months to reach a few lakh of magnus points.
And to not get that bonus because of their stupid system, I am not interested sorry.
I will place a cancellation request once the bonus points are in.
The only way I keep is if they offer 25k rewards as retention bonus else I am out.

i feel you. that's one of the reasons i don't own a magnus. I would rather lose out on returns than spend hours fighting with Axis.

Maybe I will stay with my diners black instead.
For 80k they give around 4.3k value.

Magnus gives around 20k airmiles.

I agree it is 3-4 times better, but if it gets blocked then it becomes 1.1 k value.
With the milestone I definitely spend more than I would with amazon vouchers, zomato etc.

I have called them and clearly told them that this is a HNI card and I am close to my milestone, if you are blocking my card today, youre doing a denial of service.
Paying such a high fee and keep this card is useless if this is not reliable.
3 months later and I will close this garbage if they do not do anything today.

Good. I also have a citi card. I will instantly close it the moment it gets transferred to axis.
They are going to lose 3 cards.
Will my keep ace just for having an axis card.

I have used HDFC, Indusind, SBI & ICICI cards and have not faced any such issues.

Is this something common with Axis Bank Cards? I was planning to get a Magnus or a Reserve but I don't want to keep following up with customer care.

It looks like you were not looking for a solution to your problem.
You had already decided that you will be closing this card along with your other axis cards, then what's the point of writing here and complaining.
I agreed Axis has flagged your transaction of 76, for lifestyle, but it might be a system error from their end.
If it would have been a norm, then this forum would have flooded with such queries and complaint regarding blocking.
There is a way to put up certain things, but calling out names (customer care) might be the worst you could possibly do.
Everyone here is with a genuine intention to help and extract value, and no one has a duty to serve other people.
Yours is the first post I am seeing where Axis has done this.
It seems you're overly proud of your other cards and just wanted to let out your frustration with this post.
Good luck my friend, with DCB, it's acceptance rate will make you remember the value of magnus. It's milestone is enough to serve a one way domestic for family of 4, with DCB, it will take you several months.

Good decision
The rewards points are not worth the frustration .
Plus the delay in crediting the monthly milestones, grabdeals , gyftr . The card is not worth the hype actually .
Mostly everyone is just after accumulating ER , without even any plans of how to utilise it .
Only a handful will be able to extract value from the ER’s , for others it is just going to expire silently . To actually use those miles , you will need to compensate a lot on dates , class , hotel choices etc . Which seems fine for a bachelor or self employed and not for a salaried family guy .
I myself have planned to close it once I receive all my ER’s.

First time for me.
Been trying to get that 1 lakh spends for obvious reasons.
Was 11k short, had a 8k and 4k spend lined up just had to go and do it.
Turns out they blocked my card at 5am.
Definitely see the forums, and decide.

My father shifted his Primary CC from AmEx to Magnus
3 months in and no problems regarding customer experience
Good decision

Shifting to?

My friend, I absolutely do not care about your opinion.
I am definitely proud of keeping 23 cards.
DCB has online acceptance and even places where it doesnt I have other amex cards and can potentially opt for their travel card in place of magnus.
I am 100% frustrated. Why would I deny that? If something has not happened to you, does not mean its right?
Also not all can do the milestone easily.
I was not planning for this month and started most of my spends for some reason. Spending a lakh in 4 days was going to be hard, some were spends I 3 months prior.
I already had 2 heavy spends lines up for the next 2 months.
And crystal ball person, I have no reason to close my flipkart card. I use that a lot, especially during big billion days. One of my oldest cards. My issue is ethics and I refuse to do business with unethical or useless companies especially as my primary card.

My DCB is LTF even if the acceptance is not good, it is still free.
Axis might in the future fix this, but the closure of my card is my decision and this is a forum where we talk about this stuff.

Also you talking about oh this is the first time i am seeing this happening, maybe your sample space is small. Not all card users are on technofino, maybe it happens more than you think.

Very rightly said. It takes a lot of experience to get the maximum value out of those ER points. There the bank is profiting the most as new users don't know that

If you put card closure request they might compensate you with 10k ER points for your loss
