Just got this email for rewards multiplier.

Seems like they changed from 24X from last year to flat 25 per Rs. 100 now. Don't know if it's account specific.

Terms:
• The ongoing Reward Multiplier benefit of 5X points on American Express® Platinum Card and American Express® Gold Card, and 2X points on other American Express® Proprietary Cards will not be applicable.
• A maximum of 25,000 Bonus Membership Rewards® points can be earned in a calendar month.
• Additional Membership Rewards® points will be credited within 120 business days from the date of transaction.

so overall a big flop offer ?

its the same offer thats been running every year for the past 4+ years, sometimes 21 points, sometimes 23 points and now 24 points but tncs same, moreover same offer that I've been receiving during this time as special like purchase 20000 get 500rs. voucher but with same partners and tncs.

Its an affiliate site purchase offer, purely for shopping.

Got to know from the customer care that Platinum Travel card too has the same offer but on different time period which is 28th Jan to 31st Jan. So if we use Platinum travel card for 1 lakh spend (subject to exclusion criteria), then that would be a double benefit - will be considered towards the 4 lakh milestone spend as well as will get 25k additional points, which is a very sweet deal, we will end up having the usual 40k MR points for milestone spends (15k + 25k) + 25k offer period MR points + 8k base points = 73k points (of course higher if part of/full of remaining 3 lakhs were also spent in Gyftr). 73k MR points valued at 50p per point = 36.5k monetary value + a 10k Taj voucher, on a spend of 4 lakhs is like over 10% returns, which is mind boggling! Of course much higher if smart/fortunate enough to extract more than 50p value per MR!

Anyway, the point I wanted to convey here is that, if someone has Platinum travel card too, it might be more beneficial to make use of this offer through that card instead of Gold/MRCC because the maximum of 25000 MR points per calendar month is not per card but per customer across all cards put together.

where should we spend 1 lakh?

I found gold coin in Tanishq to be the most beneficial thing (unless there is some genuine/already planned expense like flight/hotel booking in MMT etc.,)
Gold coins are sold at 5% making charge + 3% GST in Tanishq. So considering 12.5% return from the spend (assuming 50p per MR), we will get the gold coin at lesser price than the gold value.

can't we buy gold coin from flipkart?

Gold from Flipkart, Myntra etc are excluded from this offer. And moreover it is either same price or cheaper in Tanishq compared to Flipkart/Amazon.
10g 22 karat gold coin in Tanishq is 82356 and the same coin in Flipkart it is 82050 from Jagadamba pearls, and in Amazon it is 83399 from Malabar, 82999 from Kalyan etc., So instead of getting from Amazon/Flipkart from random brands or paying extra money to reputed brands, it is better to buy in Tanishq which is much more trustworthy and reasonably priced.

I tried to buy something on Apple India worth 1L, using Amex automatically qualifies for 4K cash back. When invoicing on business with a GST number, it says credit card payment with cash back isn’t eligible for GST invoice. I’d rather take the GST input of net 10-12% instead of 4K cash back but unfortunately there’s no way to decline it.

Somehow I was able to place am order in October the same way for an iPad but not now.

Any workaround?

50p per MR would be only in case of transfers right? Direct is approx .33 and gold collection would come to .37 for tanishq vouchers.

7,554 per gram for 22 karat gold, so for 10 gram , it is 75540 and we will be losing 6816 Rupees. We will get 20589 points for this purchase, @0.33 rate, would break even and @50p we will save around 3K, Not huge discount, but not too bad either.
