Following a social media thread, i called up Axis Magnus CC today morning and told them about my intention to cancel the card as its getting devalued and other cards offering much better value. Also mentioned my previous spends so far. CC offered me 10K retention bonus points. Took me 10 mins and now this will sponsor a cool one night stay at courtyard Marriott Mahabaleshwar!

Nope, the same CC checks at the backend if applicable against your account and confirms the retention points

How old is your card? Tried this a few days back. They didn't offer anything as such.

If you would have called up yesterday , it was sureshot.
Now it would depend on which customer care agent picked your call and whether or not he is in good mood or not.
