Note: Mostly other cards from same bank works with varied reward rate and similar rule of exclusion.

Tip: IDFC, IndusInd, BOB provides better rewards using payzapp like prepaid card load (MCC: wallet) which you can use to pay NPS compared to direct payment where you'll get from 0.25% to 0.8% only on these cards.

For NPS payments MCC: 9399 (Govt. Services)

Do check both payment gateways Razorpay and Billdesk (above values are according to Billdesk gateway).

Also, do share missing cards rewards that you tried, will update accordingly.

PG Charges (with GST) on NPS website/app:
  • VISA, Mastercard & AMEX = 0.885% (0.75% + GST)
Note: Above are for TIER 1. TIER 2 disabled credit card payments (based on latest available options).

If in doubt, always try test transaction and confirm with support. Things may chage any time, proceed with caution.

That's good find. Lower than using cc directly (was 0.9%+gst). By the way direct idfc will give points if you're not able to go through payzapp.
Nope. You will get only 1x if pay directly.
In addition the direct credit card payment will attract more charges

Update:
As other folks confirmed, they're getting IDFC rewards as per the card (means 6x, 10x ... based on card) even paying directly.
Still use payzapp rather than paying directly as it attracts only 0.6..% whereas credit card 0.9%

I guess it is not Unless it is marked as utility.
TnC :
  1. Reward program not applicable on Fuel, EMI transactions & Cash withdrawals.
  2. Rental and Property management transactions will earn 3X reward points. However, such transactions will not be a part of 10X reward program and 10X threshold calculations.
  3. Effective 21st August 2023, Insurance premium payments have been added to the reward program and will earn 1x rewards, Utility bill payments will now earn 1x reward points. However, such transactions will not be a part of 10X reward program and 10X threshold calculations.

Correct. Even I got the full points in May23 with wealth card. So just wanted to see why he has denied it so confidently.
