Easy address update methods for all banks (and credit cards)

With the power of the Internet, there has been good initiatives by the banks in India to update one's address online or without visiting any branch. I'll be listing one by one (whichever I experienced) as a comment and link here as well.

Address change is one of painful processes in India with the govt departments and private entities demanding a proof to change the address, which is difficult to get when one moves places.

I request everyone to share their address change experiences so that it helps someone reading it and this in turn could reduce the paperwork by a huge margin.

Same here. HDFC is very slow in updating address via bank. Took around 2 weeks.
HDFC in reality is a sarkari bank (by their behaviour).

If the bank is benefitting from you - everything can be done on call or online.

If you have want to benefit with a simple thing - send a physical form to XYZ office.

For KYC update it took more than 3 weeks after submitting the form in branch, whereas others banks are opening accounts in less than 30 min.

I have credit card-only account with ICICI, Axis, RBL, Citi, Federal, BoB etc.

All these allowed me to change the address online. SBI Cards was adamant on physical biometric auth earlier, now they dropped the ball and following Digilocker-based auth.

ICICI cc - I emailed them.

Axis cc - Did via netbanking portal, can be done via app as well. Here again, I faced issued with Aadhaar - after otp it showed error. Was successful 2 months later.

RBL cc - called them and then emailed the address proof.

Citi - via netbanking

OneCard Federal cc - emailed them.

BoB cc - via their portal

HDFC savings account linked with cc - updated from netbanking

I'm not able to update my address in SBI bank savings account. Don't want to visit the branch to listen "lunch ke baad aana".
We're discussing how to get it updated without an address proof(OVD). With OVD it can be easily

In 7 days it will be updated, lets see what they verify
Sir I also submitted request for online address change without any proof for idfc wealth acct, let's see what happens after window of seven days, bt after submitting online request for address change, app started showing re KYC due, nw what to do sir

My wife opened her HDFC bank account online + video kyc. Later they called for physical KYC. Did that the very next day. For the next 1 year almost, her signature was NOT uploaded by the bank staff so she couldn't change her address. This is HDFC - too big to fail private bank, govt banks are better than this.

Can others share more experience on changing address without address proof? It's a nightmare for people living in rented accommodation where the only proof is rental agreement.
You can get a passport with rental agreement as address proof but banks don't bother 😖

Which bank's account do you have?

Visit nearest branch & ask them to update using biometric authentication, they won't ask for a proof.
Biometric authentication only update address which is in aadhar card, we need to know the procedure to update address without proof means that address which is not in any proof like job transfer/ rented

Icici & hdfc - both savings & cc
Axis - only cc
HDFC bank will allow you to write any address if you do biometrics.
Tell ICICI and Axis that you want to update your "communication" address (different than address proofs) and the bank can update the "permanent" address as per Aadhaar. Clearly ask them for help and tell them you don't have current address proof.

If you want to update your Aadhaar first, one of the fastest method is to upload the gas delivery invoice that you get via sms (link in the sms).
