HDFC Bank Infinia is the best credit card available in India for frequent air travellers. HDFC Bank market this credit card as an invite only card, but in reality you can actually apply for this card.

If you don't have ITR of 43L/24L you can still get HDFC Infinia/DCB, you have to fulfil some other criteria.

Got a rejection mail 😢. Reading at multiple places, the spends criteria is 9 lakhs, I have 8.5L currently so should I try and make it 9 and then reply back? I have some spends coming up anyways later in the month but can make them earlier.
You need to wait for statement generation, as they usually don't consider unbilled txns under spends criteria

Only billed statements are considered for spends check. Make sure you reach 9L by next billing to be on safer side. Last 6 billed statements are considered.

I would suggest not to wait for bill generation. Cross 9L as soon as you can and mail again.
Worst case, if there is any issue regarding bill generation, you have at least started the conversation.

I have more than 12L spends in the last 6 months on my DCB. But my CL is only 6.2 lakhs.
Do I stand a chance for upgrade to Infinia? Had heard we can upgrade based on spends as well.
I am in a similar boat @ROnit . Did you try the upgrade? What was the response?

I had a limit of over 8 lakhs on my DCB Metal and I transferred about 75,000 to the Pixel card from Tata Neo Infinity, not knowing that it would also reduce the limit of my DCB Metal card. So my DCB Metal card right now has a limit of 7.25 lakhs and I have spends of about 10 lakhs in the past six months. Would I be eligible for getting the Infinia?

Can you explain this? Trasferring limit from Neo but your DCB limit is reduced?
Also do you call it a transfer or just the limit share?

I had a combined limit of ₹8,26,000 on my DCB and Tata Neo Infinity cards. When I got the Pixel card, it asked me to choose and transfer limit from either my DCB or Tata Neo Infinity. Since I wanted to meet the spend criteria and upgrade my DCB, I chose to transfer ₹1,01,000 from the Tata Neo Infinity. However, I wasn't aware that the limit was shared between DCB and Neo Infinity - after the transfer, both cards' limits dropped to ₹7,25,000.

I had contacted HDFC about two months ago for an Infinia upgrade. They confirmed I only needed to meet the spend criteria since I had sufficient credit limit. But now with the reduced limit on my DCB, I'm unsure if they'll consider my total credit limit across Tata Neo Infinity and Pixel card (which is still above 8 lakhs combined) for the upgrade eligibility.

Would appreciate any guidance on how to proceed with this situation.

You will regret this.

When you have a specific target in mind, you should avoid dabbling in other unnecessary cards from the same bank, as you may be refused your dream card for several reasons, including the recency of opening a new card account, which might set off a cooling period, after which your eligibility for a new card may expire. Getting the Pixel card may turn out to be a bad move, more so since you also dropped the CL on your qualifying card.

Agree. But now it's done. Any suggestions what I can do next?

It took two months of requesting emails after pixel card closure to get my limit back, but i doubt in your case they will not consider as I have fully transferred the limit to Pixel card and my RG was left with only 1 lacs then they considered to revert it, but you have enough limits so I they might not be doing the revert.

You unknowingly ruined your chances for upgrade. Even closing pixel will not guarantee getting limit back.

You have to wait for auto LE on DCB or increase by manual route. Then only infinia upgrade will be possible in my opinion.

Suggest you close your Pixel if you don’t use it well. I’m personally of the opinion that one must not hold any unnecessary cards even if offered LTF. I haven’t gone for Tata Neu, Pixel etc as I couldn’t justify their worth for me.

That said, I would suggest the following:
1. Request bank to transfer the limit back from Pixel to DCB. I’m assuming this would be possible.
2. Close any cards like Pixel from the same bank that you don’t use. Hold only your best core card.
3. Since your spends are good, you can give it a try with 8L CL (assuming your limit gets restored)
4. In case of upgrade, if you satisfy one criterion for other you can try for exception via RM if you are close enough to meeting the other criterion. RM will take it through the approval process.

Don’t fall for all LTFs, majority you wouldn’t use if you have 2-3 solid cards already. Instead focus on maximising value from your core cards. Use cards to make your life easier and not complicated.

My suggestion will be only request them to get the limit back as I did for nearly 3 months started in September & it was reverted in november
