I am getting a Lifetime Free 2nd Credit Card in email, is this real? Has anyone else got this?

Hello, I hold an HDFC Regalia LTF card with a 3 lakh limit (got through a c2c application in March) and I am an HDFC preferred account holder. Since September I have been getting this mail with the title "Congrats S****, Lifetime Free 2nd Credit Card!

Apply before 16/Oct/2023" (the date always changes whenever I get the mail, the apply before date is always a few days after to show the urgency I guess) Anyway the card they are showing in these offers are Diners Club Privilege which I would like to have along with my LTF Regalia if it is indeed lifetime free.

I have gone through multiple threads in this forum that say one can't have more than one core card from HDFC, so that makes me doubt this even more. Secondly, the URL this opens has the word floater mentioned in it so I called customer care and asked and they said floater card means it will have a shared limit with my regalia but they were unable to verify if this is LTF, they said they have no access to offers being sent in email but confirmed what floater card is.

Has anyone else received this offer? is this even real? If you have received it did you apply for it and did you get it LTF?



An update

So I got a message and email about an instant card and checked the status of the application, and it showed approved. So I called customer care and they said it is a chargeable card, I explained the situation and they said to email it to customerservices.cards@hdfcbank.com
so I dropped an email explaining the whole situation and with screenshots to both customerservices.cards@hdfcbank.com and grievance.redressalcc@hdfcbank.com. now let's see what reply I get back, also I spoke with the assistant branch manager of the branch where I have my HDFC account, and told him to see if he can do anything to make this ltf, he said he will try and to email him with all the details so let's see. Meanwhile, I won't activate the card after receiving it.
What is the next step after this? if they decline to make it LTF? where do I escalate it after this? I couldn't find any mail for the PNO so if anyone knows how to escalate this further, any help would be really appreciated.

Update 5th November

After 2 weeks of back and forth and with grievance readdressed team, I received a mail today confirming that the card will be converted to Lifetime free within 90 days of activation.

just read this, still didn't understand any condition that makes it LTF

"Beyond this MID, First Year Membership Fee waivers and Lifetime Free Credit Cards (Annual Membership Fees waived off) will be applicable for select customers as per the Bank's internal guidelines and discretion. "

does this mean like bank will decide selected customers and convert them to LTF only ?

I received this mail today, but now they haven't mentioned any date. I have replied to the email that I wasn't seeking any clarification related to the product features but regarding the charges, let's see when they respond next
I haven't activated the card meanwhile, What should be my next step after this?

I think from there mail reply it looks like they are not interested in making card ltf, but they are interested in finding reasons how this type of mail can come. 😀
Also I would suggest you to activate card so that you can get vouchers of activation within first 14 days as per T&c.
It may also happen that this is Hdfc until the resolution comes and they offer you ltf card but the 30 days validity may expire And your card is deactivated permanently.
At the later stage you can continue your fight after activation also and can reach upto Nodal officer or rbi, if not satisfied by redressal officer reply.

Yeah you are right, I guess I will activate the card before 14th day, but if it isn't made LTF then I will be screwed and will have to pay 2500, thats one thing I am scared of. I don't mind not getting the welcome benefits if they convert it to LTF but right now it's so difficult to understand what the outcome will be.

they responded today again, and now they are saying they will respond by 2nd November and they have changed the reference number of the ticket. Can anyone tell how long it usually takes HDFC to respond to grievances mails?

I think you'll get it LTF. They must be wondering how their website glitched out. They'll most probably fix that glitch in the coming days.

You'll be the last of the lucky ones to have grabbed this opportunity. 😉😀
 
That doesn't happen. They reply within a week usually.

How many days you got left for 30 day window?
I got the confirmation of approval on 18th, but as kandarp26 mentioned if I activate after 14 days I won't get the 1500 amazon voucher in case they don't convert it to ltf within 30 days and if I decide to pursue it with pno and rbi. So should I just activate and do a 500 transaction before 14th day ? :|

If they again give a new date, threaten them of filing a complaint with rbi, mention if this isn't resolved in 5 days, I will straight away lodge a complaint to rbi🤷
