I am getting a Lifetime Free 2nd Credit Card in email, is this real? Has anyone else got this?

Hello, I hold an HDFC Regalia LTF card with a 3 lakh limit (got through a c2c application in March) and I am an HDFC preferred account holder. Since September I have been getting this mail with the title "Congrats S****, Lifetime Free 2nd Credit Card!

Apply before 16/Oct/2023" (the date always changes whenever I get the mail, the apply before date is always a few days after to show the urgency I guess) Anyway the card they are showing in these offers are Diners Club Privilege which I would like to have along with my LTF Regalia if it is indeed lifetime free.

I have gone through multiple threads in this forum that say one can't have more than one core card from HDFC, so that makes me doubt this even more. Secondly, the URL this opens has the word floater mentioned in it so I called customer care and asked and they said floater card means it will have a shared limit with my regalia but they were unable to verify if this is LTF, they said they have no access to offers being sent in email but confirmed what floater card is.

Has anyone else received this offer? is this even real? If you have received it did you apply for it and did you get it LTF?



An update

So I got a message and email about an instant card and checked the status of the application, and it showed approved. So I called customer care and they said it is a chargeable card, I explained the situation and they said to email it to customerservices.cards@hdfcbank.com
so I dropped an email explaining the whole situation and with screenshots to both customerservices.cards@hdfcbank.com and grievance.redressalcc@hdfcbank.com. now let's see what reply I get back, also I spoke with the assistant branch manager of the branch where I have my HDFC account, and told him to see if he can do anything to make this ltf, he said he will try and to email him with all the details so let's see. Meanwhile, I won't activate the card after receiving it.
What is the next step after this? if they decline to make it LTF? where do I escalate it after this? I couldn't find any mail for the PNO so if anyone knows how to escalate this further, any help would be really appreciated.

Update 5th November

After 2 weeks of back and forth and with grievance readdressed team, I received a mail today confirming that the card will be converted to Lifetime free within 90 days of activation.

Did they give any update on your card.
literally got no update or mail at all, I even called the grievance number today and they assured me I would get a resolution by today but then nothing, I mailed them too, and still nothing. I have told them if I don't get a resolution tomorrow I will escalate this to PNO and RBI ombudsman. I will call the grievance customer care again tomorrow morning.
 
Just got this reply, again they are extending this, and now they didn't even give any date. What do I reply to them now? Should I just go ahead and complain to PNO and RBI?

Even HDFC can't believe that they issued 2 core cards XD
They're lost and confused on how to handle this now.

Drop them a strong-worded email on the delays and for wasting your time.

also mention that youre not liable to pay the annual fee .. if they dont provide any solution before one month ..
 
I haven't activated the card yet. should I activate the card? Also, should I ask them in the email that instead of giving me this card LTF to instead upgrade my regalia to regalia gold LTF? or would that be too much?
 
I have replied to the mail, and said that this is basically wasting my time now by extending it two times as it has already been two weeks since I raised this issue, I will be reaching out to the Nodal Officer and to RBI Ombudsman to escalate this issue and to get a resolution to this issue if I don't receive any resolution from the Grievance Redressal team by tomorrow.

What I feel that you should activate your card. There is no harm in it. You can continue your fight. Worst what will happen they will give you FYF. Use it for 1 year . On 10th or 11 th month put an application to cancel card may be at that time during the closure process HDFC executive will call you and they have authority to make your card Life time free. At that time put demand for Life time free, it may also work. If nothing happens not to worry you have used your card for 1 year is plus benefit cancel it. You already have another LTF card with you use it, you should not be worried if this card is closed at that time.

Yeah, I think I will do that only, if by tomorrow's end I receive no resolution.

You have to keep patience. Activate the card and wait for their reply. As far as I know, HDFC levies Joining Fee (if any) in the third or fourth month.

Write to PNO & w8 for atleast 30 days from date of first email to hdfc and then just file a complaint to BO
 
Hey guys, an update on the situation. Just received this mail today, So this means the card will be LTF after/within 90 days right?

You actually didn't have the patience. I knew that hdfc will make it LTF but they just needed time to investigate and decide
true, I did get very impatient, or I would rather say very nervous cause I haven't dealt with anything like this before and thought it wouldn't work. But yeah lesson learnt.
