Idfc power+ card

Team, I've applied for this IDFC First HP Power Plus card and its approved. Even before I got the card, annual fee is charged to my account. I checked it on app after registration. Now which is the best way to use this card for fuel purchases. I generally purchase fuel for anywhere between 4000 to 5000 per month on an average and some times this goes up to 7000 per month if outstation travel is involved and also for 2 HP gas cylinders.. Got totally confused going through this thread on understanding the best way to use this card for fuel purchases.

1) Should I use the card directly on POS machine (any POS machine or any specific POS machine) at HP fuel station OR

2) Load HP wallet on HP Pay app using this card and use HP wallet to pay for fuel purchases by scanning. Any particular QR code here to be scanned OR

3) Scan any QR code and pay via UPI using this rupay card.

Thanks in advance.

1) You can do that but then you will get only net 4% RP back
2) This is the best way...will get 5.5% RP value back (HP Pay QR code scan and then pay by CC with CVV and otp is the best method to get guaranteed 5.5% quickly)
3) If you pay by UPI, no valueback ( as per as I know)
Maximum oil you can buy per month is Rs. 10000 hence, you can get Rs.400 to rs.550 benefit per month Maximum

if you pay by UPI, it will be treated as UPI transaction and will get only 0.5% RP back and 1% fuel surcharge, Net loss is 0.5%

Can you pl explain 2nd point in detail.. Got confused,

when you pay by HP Pay QR code, you have to choose CC option...give detail, CVV and give OTP (like we purchase something online)...this way will ensure full 5.5% value back (actually 6.5% but you are paying 1% extra for fuel surcharge...hence net profit 5.5%)
hope it is clear now

Bottomline
Never pay by UPI
Keep some money loaded in the HP Pay app wallet..(or may be you can load it in the pump when they refuses to use HP Pay QR Code)
Then in the pump, ask for HP Pay QR code, if you get it, then pay by power+ card using otp sent to your mobile
If, there is no HP PAY QR code, then try the HP PAY wallet
If that also does not work, Simply use the POS machine and it works everywhere

Thanks for the detailed explanation. For HP gas cylinder booking and payment, which is best option. HP Pay has option to book a cylinder. So use the same to book a cylinder and pay using the same credit card option with OTP on HP Pay app OR use other card like HDFC Tata Neu Infinity Rupay card since gas cylinder booking comes under utility payment.

Well I did 2 transactions at HP without having my physical card (not delivered yet).

1) As a backup recharged HP wallet on HP Pay app for Rs 2250 and the amount charged was Rs 2272.57.

2) Then went to HP fuel station and enquired about HP Pay QR Code. They pointed me to the QR codes which were on each and every pillar at bunk in big size.

So filled for Rs 2000 and then using QR Code scanner in HP Pay app, scanned the HP Pay QR Code on one of the pillars and using credit card option, paid the bill which came to Rs 2020.06.

Attached are the txn from bank app.

Got sms from bank with tag 'Fueled Up!' as starting word and amount spent for both transactions.

Need to see when the bank credits the reward points and any cashback due for 1st txn.

Thank you very much for the needful.

Now you check your HP Pay app...There should have at least 135 Happy coins with you (1.5% valueback) which you can use later to buy gift card or load the wallet to buy oil.
And when the statement will generate, we will get 675 RP in the statement (5% valueback) and you have been charged 22.5 (1%) extra...
So ultimately profit is 5-1+1.5= 5.5%

for Rs. 2000 wallet load trasaction also you should get few Happy coins now and others will credited when you will actually use the wallet money
And the valueback (5%) for the Rs.2000 will get credited only when you use the wallet to fuel up in HP pump only.

I got 230 Happy Coins being shown in HP Pay app. The break up of points earned for both the transactions is shown in the attached image. Thanks again.

hello, I just got IDFC power plus card, and I recharged my hp wallet with 1000rs, my wallet shows 1000rs now and hp coins as 50.

in idfc app's transactions, the transaction amount is shown as 1000rs only, and no fuel surcharge or anything. So, does hp wallet loading doesn't qualify for 5% net cashback? what does "HP Pay wallet load transactions NOT used at HPCL retail outlets for fuel will not qualify for
savings up to 5%" mean on their savings maximizer pdf ?

Please help, because waiting for otp after scanning qr seems like a big risk and waste of time, if spending on fuel through hp's wallet balance doesn't count towards rewards.

This simply means that if you do not buy petrol from HPCL but buy from bpcl or iocl pumps, you will not get any cashback...
To get cashback, you must use the wallet money in HP pumps only
