Pro Tips-

Simple way to make Any basic to mid range SBI card LTF is to "Just raise a closure of card account request through Sbi card app .After few hours you will receive a call to ask a reason for cancellation ,there tell them Either make it Life time free or cancel the card.They will make your Card LTF.Done on my both sbi card and now both are LTF.Service request to make your card LTF is taken as PCT id is to be changed.You can check in service request tracking menu.

Caution:-If you holding multiple cards of SBI then kindly do this process at one card at a time only.Do on other card after at least month. If at any point SBI Card is not agreeing on LTF and offering you Annual Fee waivers only then Accept Fee waivers at that moment and Apply the same trick Again after 1 or 2 months for LTF.
IF ANYONE HAVING ANY SPECEFIC CONCERN THEN DO DM.

Edit 1-If afterall anyone missed the call from retention team then they can simply call customer care and there simply tell them to connect/transfer you call to retention team as i want to discuss regarding my card closure request.They will connect you to their retention team and now there you can project the above trick to get your card LTF ..


Edit 2(09 July 2023)-Even people have made sbi cards having fee upto 1499 LTF and even higher varriant cards you will get equivalent reward points or miles or annual fee waiver in place of LTF.

Edit 3(15 October 2023)- Even people have made their SBI cashback credit card LTF by their skill of negotiation.

Edit 4-Now a days SBI Cards sometime,closing the card without calling so suggest now dont place request through app by self .Call customer care directly and ask them for LTF/fee waivers or to transfer the call to retention team for doing the same.
 
In my case i was waiting for their call, so maybe calling and connecting to customer care is safer option rather than placing request on app.

Place the request on the App , wait for their call.
IF no call . then call CC.
 
@Rkr they have taken my request to convert octane to ltf, I can see pct id request change in app yesterday, today I see pct id request closed, retention person confirmed card converted to ltf yesterday, called customer care today, he said he doesn't have access, how to know in current scenario, whether card is ltf or not now?

It is LTF, sometimes you have to believe. This is one of such scenarios.

I think you spoke to a wrong agent. Call again and try.
Anyway you can confirm by E-mailing to their customer service. You will get response in 2 days.
 
Sometimes, they also send wrong info. That also depends on who was replying to our query.
Happened to my CB LTF card when raised question via App.
I have got confirmation over call. Later I had sent an email for written confirmation (Not through app). Got response in 2 days.
Yes, you are right. It's depend on agent knowledge.

If request is taken then 99.99 percent your card will be LTF...
No need to do additional checks.
If LTF offer is there on your profile then only sbicard allow to take PCT ID change means LTF request ...Request taken means offer is there.

If still you want confirmation then send email asking the same through sbicard app inapp mail feature.

One of mine sbi cashback card anniversary date is near in April 24 months today I placed call directly for renewal free reversal she denied for same she told only card renewal fee charged in card after that payments only then we can decide for same till that please use further next month.

It was fyf that time should I wait for again call place card closure request seems scary any time sbi can closed if missed retention team call.

Kindly suggest till now my spend below 50k .

If your need is Annual Fee waiver then wait as it will be better.

If you want to go for LTF then call next time and ask for LTF from retention team.

The first time I got attended by a lady agent who denied making it LTF. Then called the helpline the next day at around their start time in the morning and was attended by a male agent who seemed knowledgeable. He took the SR for PCT ID change and assured me that it would be converted to LTF. Confirmed today by mail and it's LTF 🙂

My SBI cashback card anniversary is in September and spends till now is around 80K. Last year I could meet the spend requirement but not sure if possible this year but don't want to risk closure of the card as of now.
1. Should I request for LTF request now or later after card anniversary?
2. Do I need to clear balance till date before calling ?
3. When is the best time to call - after monthly statement generation ?
4. Should I call customer care, ask for closure and same time ask them to transfer to retention time or waiting from call is only option?
5. Experts please suggest key points for negotiation which works.
6. As it's financial closing, will it be better to call now ?
