RBIO: Got compensation of 10,000 from Axis Bank

Any RBI guideline for not refunding excess balance on closed Credit Card despite raising request for refund? Any compensation for this?

How can bank close credit card with credit balance? First they need to refund the amount and only then they should close it. Any credit balance in a CC is technically your money and bank can't just take it away.

SBM closed FD based Onecard. But I have redeemed the rewards to cash. So they are still lying there since Oct 2023. I requested them via email in Apr 2024 to either make the balance zero in Cibil, Experian or refund this balance. No action taken so far.

Hi everyone, need help. I applied for sbi simply save cc in 2019 and closed it in few months as the card wasn't that much beneficial for me. It's been 5 years that card was showing active in my cibil. I email sbi pno few days back and now they have marked that card as closed in my cibil. They are saying no compensation for this cibil issue. Can i raise a ticket to RBI for the compensation from SBI ?

When did you make the complaint and when was it resolved? Exact dates.

I applied for the Amazon ICICI Credit Card through Amazon on 23rd November 2024. After submitting the application, I received a notification that my address was incorrect. I discontinued the application and corrected the details on my Aadhaar card.

When I tried to apply again, it automatically continued the previous application. However, the video KYC option was not available due to the previously flagged incorrect address. So, I chose the manual home visit KYC and scheduled the visit.

The first scheduled visit failed — no one came to my home. I continued to schedule appointments one by one, but no representative showed up each time.

I tried reaching out to both Amazon and ICICI Bank. Amazon told me to contact ICICI Bank, while ICICI Bank told me to contact Amazon. This back-and-forth continued with no resolution. After four failed appointments, I decided to file a complaint with RBI Ombudsman and demanded compensation for the inconvenience caused.

I had to leave my office four times, wasting my time and productivity, only for KYC appointments that never happened. After the RBI complaint, ICICI Bank finally completed the KYC and approved my credit card after three months. However, the complaint was closed without any compensation.

I would like to know why no compensation was provided, despite the repeated failures and inconvenience caused due to the negligence of ICICI Bank. {97183613-EBB6-43BF-8C3D-71BF4659BAC2}.webp

Did you ask for compensation?

Did you ask for compensation?
Yes, I had already requested compensation from ICICI Bank before filing the complaint with the RBI. I also mentioned the compensation while filing the RBI complaint.

Although I didn't receive the compensation, I just want to understand why it was not provided.

After several arguments with ICICI Bank, I filed a complaint with the RBI. Even then, ICICI Bank did not provide proper guidance.

To be honest, ICICI Bank clearly said, “We cannot help you with your KYC. Only after you get the credit card, we can assist you. Before that, you must contact Amazon.”

I also shared all email conversations with ICICI Bank and detailed the entire issue in my complaint to the RBI.

After the card was approved, I received an email from the RBI stating:

"With reference to your complaint, the Regulated Entity (RE) has replied and the same is attached in the mail for your reference.
You are advised to provide your response to the Regulated Entity's reply by sending an email to Crpc@rbi.org.in before 10.03.2025.
In the event of no response from you within the stipulated timeline, the complaint will be closed with available documentary evidence from our end."

In response, I informed the RBI that ICICI Bank completed my KYC and approved my credit card. However, I also mentioned that ICICI Bank failed multiple times earlier and wasted my time through repeated failed appointments.

I would like to remind you once again about the compensation I had requested, considering the inconvenience and time lost due to ICICI Bank’s repeated failures.

Similar thing happened with my and IndusInd Bank.

The complaint was closed under the same non appealable section, without any compensation.

They did not give the reason for rejection, until RBIO complaint was made.

RBIO does not take into consideration our grievance, even if we are forced to approach RBIO everytime for the wrongdoing of any bank.

No compensation only compromisation...

For that you will have to file a case against RBIO in a court.

The RBIO chapter is closed. Now, to get a compensation against the harassment you will have to file a case against ICICI Bank in consumer court.
