Infinia RedGiraffe payment via hdfc bill pay using credit card marked as RENTALBBPSNO instead of HDFC BILLPAY this time

Hi all,

Looks like HDFC has patched redgiraffe payment option as well in bill pay option via credit card.

Now payment email contains remarks as RENTALBBPSNO instead of HDFC BILLPAY when payment made to redgiraffe via credit credit using hdfc bill pay.

I don’t think we will get rewards points anymore on this. I will get to know in few days once amount is settled.

Does anyone else have received reward points after getting remarks as RENTALBBPSNO via hdfc bill pay ?

Thanks,
Jaideep S

I missed this thread and same for me. Posted earlier here

Anyways, with HDFC, first rent payment is without charges. So hopefully no points but no gain.

Need to check alternatives now for rental payment.

Still, it HAS to be mentioned in the T&C for each card. When they mention which transactions will and will not earn rewards, how can they miss out on this?
One can wish. But Axis made these change across cards and think shared via addendum. It is in MITC also on last page or so.

Think all banks have done similar.

They do charge 1% + GST. I have the Atlas. Am surprised if it’s not written in T&C. However, the points more than makes up for it
Good for you.

I have Magnus for Burgundy and basis my simple calculations

1 ER = Re 0.2 in terms of Rupee value. We get 6% points (12 ER per Rs 2-00 spends, upto Rs 50K rent). This translate to 1.2% earn rate in rupee terms.

In terms of charges we spend 1% + GST (18%). So 1.18% in fees. ( RG charges of 0.49% too)

So not making sense. Did I miss something?

1 ER = 0.8 airmile / hotel points.

Atlas gives 2 edge miles per 100, also it charges 1%+gst for rent payment.
But when you transfer it to partners you get 2x points except marriott. Also rupee conversion is 1.80 per point for Accor. So atlas gives more value for now 😜

Another option is:
SBI Vistara Prime, use it load payzapp wallet and pay rent using it. No extra rent fees on card due to wallet load and achieve milestones. But no extra points.

TBH, this giving charges upfront in order to get future rewards is not worth it. Who knows, Accor could devalue their points. Make it dynamic like Marriott Bonvoy. What benefit will be left then? I feel it's time to go back to making only those spends via CC which make sense.
