Hi TFians

I had placed closure request on 8th April against my Pulse card before statement generation. Retention team called me on 15th April and offered annual fee waiver and asked to call back after statement generation on 19th April.

After statement generation I called on customer card many times and every agent declined it. Finally asked them to connect with retention team. Retention team created a request on 23rd April and asked to wait for 3 days.

Got a message today that waiver can't be provided. Called customer care and they simply blocked the card. Even called on Nodal helpline but they are not ready to help.

Any senior SBI officials here who can help me in this regard please? I don't use this card and was ready to close it had the retention team not promised a fee waiver. I don't want to pay for this since I won't be able to recover the fees ever. I am afraid if I don't pay by due date on 10th May, they will report it to CIBIL and screw my score.

Any help would be appreciated.

They did the exact same thing to my brother. He held only SBI Pulse back then. His home branch pre-approved him the Cashback card and sent it even though he denied (because I already had it). He didn't activate it due to its joining fees. Later we got a call from SBI Card that they will reverse the fees after 1st statement generation. They asked us to let the bill generate, clear the dues and then call for reversal. We complied, but when we called for reversal, they said it is not possible.

We called a few more times but were denied each time. We then took the matters to the Nodal officer, who didn't respond even after 15 days of the email. So, finally, we got the RBI Ombudsman involved. We threatened SBI with the RBI Complaint screenshot. However, RBI dismissed our complaint since 30 days were yet to be completed from the date of first (email) complaint. But still the RBI bamboo seemed to have worked because SBI Customer Care not only reversed the fees for his Cashback card but also his Pulse card which was about 6 months old by then.

So, if you're ever in such a situation again, consider taking the RBI Ombudsman route.

Wait. SBI Cashback is being pre-approved by SBI branches? Since when? 😱

We have very good relations with that branch, and about an year earlier he wanted the Cashback card but couldn't get it via the online route, so he expressed his interest in the card to the home branch and they said that they'll try to get it for him after some time. Apparently they managed to get it approved for him.

Bro but the immediately closed the card, had it been open I could have tried RBI route.

Did you try this?

In the app, Go to services > Card Closure Request > Select Card and Reason 'Other Fees & Charges' > Skip > Annual Fee Waiver

didn't knew about this! from last 2 year been paying 590+ for sbi simplyclick of stupid 24month EMI Running so last month paid fees so i opt for this and annual fees wavier option was there and it seem in 7 working days fees charges will be credited back.

for my sbi cashback annual fees wavier option isn't there but on call css confirmed i'm eligible for fees wavier.

Bro you can trust them if they given a promise on a recorded line and they mentioned the promise in a ticket number. I faced the experience with them and they kept the promise
But sir I don't have the call recording. SBI must be having it since it was on recorded line but I doubt there's any way I can ask them to pull it out and verify for themselves.

Ohh! Very good relations means paisa hi paisa. I will try to throw 50L at my home branch (throw I mean, deposit in my SBI Bank account) and see if they manage to get SBI Cashback for me 😂 or still give the overleveraged excuse

In my experience ANNUAL FEE WAIVER is very easy in SBI when compared with other CC's.
Go to closure request option and select FINANCIAL ISSUES and you will see ANNUAL FEE WAIVER option.
My FEE paid is reversed within 2 days with GST.
I am doing this for the past 2 years with my SBI SIMPLYSAVE 👍
