And even I am so confused between LG 1.5 Ton 5 Star & Panasonic 1.5 Ton 5 Star AC, my room is ~125 sqft. and has direct sunlight throughout the day, with a discount of 2.75k on both the ACs, I can get LG @ 42,740 INR and Panasonic @ 41,740 INR on Flipkart
Go for LG over Panasonic. Service is available at remote places as well. Brand image is far better.

I would say go with Panasonic.
LG - Korean company is good in TVs/Fridge etc, but in ACs - Japanese companies are far better - Panasonic/Diakin. Panasonic smart features and cooling(in terms of W like Panasonic 1.5T 5 star gives 5100W cooling, LG 1.5T 5 star gives 4800W something) - much better than LG. Panasonic service has improved a lot I would say as compared to last year.

Yes, even I am more tending towards Panasonic only.

I live in Agra, so that isn't that remote, could you mention any other reason? Also, EMIs through RuPay Credit Card on Flipkart are supported, right?
Panasonic ACs are generally bit more noisy. Check if you can by visiting showroom. Otherwise no major reason for LG. Panasonic ones are as good as LG these days. They've improved a lot as mentioned by @Shrinit Padwal

Yes if your issuer bank is allowing EMI, then card network doesn't matter.

It's just I saw somewhere LG giving a little less cooling capacity this year.

It's SBI SimplySAVE RuPay Credit Card

I am using Panosonic 1.5 Ton 5 Star AC and it's good. also, I would recommend to check at Reliance Digital, they always gives better rate compare to any portal or store. I have been able to always negotiate by upto 1-2k compare to price available at other platforms.
Could you mention any cons if you've found?

Would suggest the following in order
1. It should be with Inverter tech (double inverter is a tad better)
2. Flexi cooling -(4in 1, 5 in 1 etc)
3. Inverter ACs typically covers a bit larger area. So 1 ton needed where 1.5T needed for fixed speed ACs. Similarly 1.5T is good enough where 2 ton needed. If your area is not getting super hot, then upto 2000 Cuft room with limited direct sunlight exposure (3-4 hrs) then 1.5ton is good enough. If smaller or the parameters are on the lower side go for 1 or 1.2T. If higher then go for 1.8-2T.
4. If the average running is around 5-6 hrs for 4-5 months an year then 3star is good enough, But if it is more than 12 hrs average for more than 6 months, 5 star is ideal.
5. Brand wise has not much meaning except for warranty and repair service. If you stay in major metros/ cities, service shall not be a problem as spare parts are easily available and even a friendly local serviceman can manage. In most cases, the difference is following
  • special hifi features- mostly electronic/ programming
  • PCB warranty - 1/2/3/5 years
  • Compressor - most uses from common pool of mfrs.

Is There any Good AC under 15k or 20k?
Only with exchange. You can get 1T white labeled brand like Marq etc or Candes, or Croma at around 20K. These are with typically Chinese made generic PCB (FYI, all are Chinese made but branded one has a controlled production). So if you are buying such white label one, just ensure that you go for extended warranty as well. Typically parts are available with most AC technicians for such ACs. Very recently, I bought a Voltas 0.8 Ton AC for 14.5K incl exch and CC benefits from Amazon.

Voltas is good brand right? Without exchange what the price?

Can't recommend any brand but I can warn you that Hitachi has the worst after-sales service.
If you buy any brand from Reliance then the service is taken care by ResQ and not Hitachi. Though I am not advocating Hitachi.

Just for info I have a Hitachi 5* split AC, working perfectly for last 12 years. I always go for the local maintenance guy for service/ repair.

Yes, that's what I started doing this week too:) Found a really good local guy for service.

Hi All

I'm looking to buy 1.5 Ton and 1 Ton Ac's please suggest on which star rating to prefer and brand info .

I'm totally confused with all the options available in market.

Thanks.
Go for IFB silver/gold inverter AC. Get extended comprehensive warranty for 5 years and u r stress free. using it for 2 yrs and no complaints with service or product. I have an digital Amp meter installed and the Ac consumes 1 amp in the night at 25 degree. this is equivalent to running a cooler. I have tried & tested every brand like voltas, panasonic, O general, bluestar, Daikin.
But the level of satisfaction is hightest with IfB so far.

I think IFB has a bad after sales service for non metro cities. Are you from metro city?

My recommendation/suggestion for domestic purpose AC purchase (House utilisation)

1. All brands have second/third party contract system with local service providers. Whatever brand you choose (i.e. Mitsubishi, Panasonic, etc), a guy from local service provider will serve you. So, it depends upon how good your local service provider for your brand. We cannot assure that one specific brand will give you the same after sales service throughout the nation. (Same situation occurs for your phone repairs. For example, HCL Technologies provides after sale services for most brands. So, we can say that your Xiaomi phone's repair is good if your local service network of HCL Technologies is good.)

2. Less parts, more reliable machines. PCB cost (in Inverter AC only) is always an expenditure for your AC after 5 years of operation. Just because of PCB your AC can't be in working condition. (Assume a situation. After 5 years of operation a PCB gone in your AC during summer period. You consult with your service provider and order a PCB of 5 year old AC of a particulat brand. PCB arrives after 10 days. Service provider has some fresh installtions and replaces your PCB after another 10 days. So, you cannot use your AC for 20 days in a hot summer duration. You have already purchased this inverter PC at higher cost compared to long lasting fixed AC. We can replace a phone in the next day if it is not working. But we can't do the same thing for AC because of Piping network, Interior of house and so many other challanges)

3. Star ratings and ISEER are truly useful. But you should know the EER/Power Consumption at 100% level. You can compare inverter AC and fixed speed AC based on their EER/Power Consumption at 100% Cooling Capacity. For Example, here 2 OGeneral ACs have been compared. (Refer images. Also, refer pages 32 & 38 of the attached PDF file.)
a. OGeneral 5 star inverter CET series AC 1.5 Ton having EER-4.03W/W and Power Consumption 1310 W at 100% Cooling Capacity.
CET 5 star inverter series.jpg
b. OGeneral 3 star fixed BMW series AC 1.5 Ton having EER-3.87W/W and Power Consumption 1369 W at 100% Cooling Capacity.
BMW 3 star fixed series.jpg
So, the difference of EER/Power Consumption at 100% Cooling Capacity is very less between 5 star inverter AC & 3 star fixed AC. Now you will say that inverter AC will not run 100% all the time. Ofcourse, you will save power when AC runs at lower cooling capacity. Then your cooling effect will be also less. I will choose 1 Ton fixed AC instead of 1.5 Ton inveter AC for a room size upto 150 SqFt. (with lower prices of 12-15K compared to inverter AC).

4. Watch this videos for actual power consumption and cooling techniques between inverter AC and fixed AC. (Watch both videos fully if you have interest)
a.
b.

5. These brands, showrooms and sales person are trying to sell inverter ACs because they have chain of business with your inverter AC. Inverter AC has lots of electronics/sensors (including PCB) for automation and self-cleaning. These electronics/sensors will increase your AC purchase cost. So, delicate AC also needs a professional technician to install and to service. These electronics/sensors will increase your maintenance and service costs later on (ultimately increase in after sales business).

6. So, in the name of electricity savings you are spending much in initial and occuring expenses in inverter AC.

Disclaimer : I am just critising electronics/sensors parts attached to ACs. If you have enough money to spent on inverter ACs and its occuring expenses. Please go ahead with it.
