Amex plans to start 2024 with a grand reward of 1,35,000 MR points when upgrading to a Platinum Charge card.

Users currently holding Amex Platinum Travel, Amex Platinum Reserve and Amex Gold Charge card are getting these offers.
You can see it in the app, refer to the screenshots attached below.

For the heavy spenders, this is a great deal since you get multiple loyal hotel loyal memberships and do anything concierge service.

If you don't spend a lot of money but feel the points can help, you can still upgrade for the points.

If you don't need the points, you can get the Amex Platinum Travel or the Amex MRCC card which remains the best card for monthly spends between 6K-40K.

For Maldives , it's better to get all inclusive deals from travel agents , generally they do 1.2-1.5 for over water villas in lesser known private island properties like Furnama etc.
Marriot or Accor Redemptions often lowers down the value because of high transfer.
Still with points I think Pullman gives good value as they charge about 250 for sea transfers afaik
Last year had used my Hilton Honors for Waldorf Astoria, got an astonishing deal even though the transfers costed me $1800 for 2.

Had a 5 night stay free in the coral reef overwater villa, which usually sells for 4-5L a night. So 25L worth stay free.

For the food, it was quite expensive but we managed under $1000 for 2 for 5 nights including all meals (we're not heavy eaters + carried some indian ready to eats with us haha)

Overall, if u can manage to pull 5 nights at a property like Waldorf Astoria for 2 - 2.5L, it's a steal deal.

how many points are required must be around 6L?did u get the upgrade because waldorf astoria rooms are about 2200-2500 range.

Thanks for putting in some efforts to explain the scenario.

Got some clarity on income eligibility too. Let me see how it works for me.
@bvc19296 - sharing more details on this - Just got a call and since most of us had lot of questions, I clarified everything

1. Incase you want your GC to be upgraded to PlatC, they will upgrade the card immediately and you loose your GC forever
2. Incase you want to keep MRCC + GC + Plat Travel and also get PlatC, they will give you a fresh upgrade link. You need to use this exclusive link for the 135000 MR points offers, complete VKYC and you can use all 4 cards
3. Income criteria should be 25L and above - however if your payment history is good, then there are exceptions - again depends on whether the executive who called is ready to help or not

Wait, you're telling me you stayed in this for free?

I'm so not jealous right now. Even with the added expenses, for 5 days, that was such a bargain!

This is exactly the place i stayed in for 5 nights.

My expense was around $1800 for 2 people seaplane transfer + another $1,000 on food and drinks for the 5 nights.

We did carry ready-to-eat pouches to save on some bucks while also enjoying our Indian food.

The room you get really depends on how advance you book, and how you book.

If I saw most of the dates, I was getting an overwater pool villa which is amazing aswell but cost 2-2.5L per night.

On December 2 - 7th, I was getting the Queen Grand Reef Villa for the same amount of points, which I would say was at least double in size and costed 4.5-5L per night during those dates (the same villa is now available for 3.8L per night on Agoda now)

What is the nightly Hilton points requirement for this property ?

Can we apply through referral and get mr points as welcome gift instead of taj voucher
And how much mr points will they give
Please help
Yes, you can apply through referral and get MR points.

After approval, call Amex support and tell them you need MR points, around 100K is what they generally offer. There could be some scope for negotiation depending on your skills.

After opting for upgrade on mail link I have received automated mail, but till now no call received. It's been 5 days and no reply from them. Started calling Customer care support 3-4 times and every time different answer received.

1. You will get a call in few days as they have mentioned timeframe till February end

2. Your have Plat travel card and GC, offer received on Plat travel and you cannot have two charge cards so system rejected your upgrade offer request.

3. We have noted down your request and your upgrade offer is still available and we are forwarding request to upgrade team and you will have call from them in 3-4 business days.

4. Your income documents are missing and system has put your upgrade request on hold.

For pre approved offers and upgrade request taken Amex support team gave these 4 different answers to me. Any views guys??

@anirban.choudhury @Dr. Drake @D7162 @hrish88 @Sohmel
If your income is less than 25L system would have rejected your request

why not get in touch with the executive whose number was mentioned in upgrade email request.

Two of my family members hold GC plus PC so that's bullshit. Plus I also hold GC & mine is approved though not received dispatch status

I saw some in another thread saying they don't have itr but he was promoted by the rep to select income 25 to 45L and it got approved without any income.but for me the rep was not helpful at all when I said I want the Plat charge for the invite sent . I presume he did not want to help or me selecting the 25L income as he knew I did not have that income during out discussion I had to be honest and I told him there are several people issued and willing to pay fees without income how is it you are not allowing and why sent invite at all. He said apply after 90 days after base income changes and got rejected . Even Amex are biased to some and not to some. Hence had to apply GC and got approved
