Wrongful Dishonour of Cheques by Bank

Hello,

I am a wealth account holder with one bank. I issued two cheques of ₹50k each.

The bank clearing team dishonored these cheques giving the reason 'PPS Name Mismatch'

However the name was correctly mentioned by me while updating them in PPS in net banking.

I came to know about these cheques been dishonored by beneficiary, bank didn't send any SMS or email and also didn't called me. I immediately called the customer care and they were unhelpful and gave standard reply that we will get back in 48 hours.

I have to immediately rushed to bank branch to NEFT the money.

The bank took 4 days to investigate and accepted their mistake.

I have not faced any financial loss but this was a very embarrassing situation for me in front of both the beneficiaries.

Is there any action I can take against the bank.

Banks giving money to people who forged your cheque and signature
Or dishonour a cheque, and keep your money safe

If the issue matters so much to you (and a monetary compensation isn't what you're secretly looking for, try switching to some expensive bank🤷

Thanks for the advice. Going forward, I will secretly wish that bank dishonour my cheque so that my money remain safe.

Can you suggest some expensive banks?

Bank should communicate in such circumstances.
Have you checked the mail too from which u sent PPS details?

Since this was a very important payment, I updated PPS in net banking immediately after issuing the cheques, so that I don't miss PPS email or SMS. So when the cheques were presented, I didn't received any PPS email.
