So I just chanced upon MASTERCARD WORLD CREDIT CARD - By Canara Bank. It gives the following benefits :

No joining / annual fees with Airport Lounge Access for self AND GUESTS? with International Lounge access too? It only charges 300 rupees if you dont spend 1,00,000/- p.a (which honestly is a good deal). Did I stumble upon a gem or Canara service is so bad, no one can get this card?

They are in partnership with "LoungeKey". Seems relatively new. I haven't heard anyone talk about it so far, but they have a wide range of lounges.

I have an account in canara bank for almost a decade probably. I applied for the Mastercard World DEBIT CARD instead of the credit card. The debit card also has same lounge access benefits. I applied for the debit card online and it just got dispatched. I'll receive in a few days.

I'm flying to Europe this October and will try to get international lounge access for me and 2 other guests. Hope it works out, I'll keep you all posted. Wish me luck 🤞

Important note for Debit card holders :

An authorization amount of INR equivalent of USD 32 per person per visit will be levied to the card, which will subsequently be reversed within 10 working days. This would be charges on the card for validation purposes only and it will not be charged to the card holder if you still have complimentary access.

IIRC Citibank priority Mastercard debit cards had Lounge key as partner. They were quite good. I have used it in Citi debit card. They charge 30 USD and reverse it in 2 weeks.

It's a new offering so less advertised.

Try it for yourself .
Unless Personal repo with bm & long relationship with bank none got card ..
Those who got were also in constant hassle

Probably not that hard if you keep some reasonable deposits with them.

Ahh then this is tricky,

See Canara Credit Card approval is much more localised, you branch manager has power to issue you card based on your relationship, and because BM is personally approving you on their professional competency, they tend to scrutinize everything

My last application 6 months ago was rejected because i had too many Credit enquiries in 1 month alone(6), so i waited and applied recently again

Any contacts with branch employees helps

Depends upon the location and the branch. 10 lakhs might be enough for smaller towns while 50 lakhs might be necessary for big cities. If I wanted their card, I would just directly go to the BM, tell him or her that I want to bring some funds over in FDs, deposit 50 lakhs or whatever he wants and then ask him to arrange a card. It should work. Perhaps you have to wait a few months after opening the account there. If 50 lakhs isn’t available, even 10 lakhs kept there for a while work.
