Has infinia been devalued ?

He guys for any transaction like electronics purchase (mobile phone) the max points you get just 2,000 reward points ? Is this devaluation or such already exist ? And the telecom meaning what type of transactions are that ?

It comes under utility I believe hence the capping. This is already there for utility transactions
 
Electronics purchase does not have any capping. Utilities and telecom MCCs have capping. May be your electronics purchase got tagged as telecom MCC
i have done many transactions with such vendor, there were no issues. same pos machine now hdfc has flagged this Samsung physical outlet has telecom
 
maybe the outlet has registered his merchant as telecom services like a mobile recharge shop maybe thats why if it was mobile merchant then would have not been an issue i guess
its samsung outlet and hdfc offers as instant discount works on the product on pos in selection how come its telecom when hdfc can offer a discount on Samsung products during swipe
 
Hope you had shared proof of the product (bill) with Infinia customer care.

Also note that there have been instances where an outlet has several PoS machines registered under different categories. Some merchants do that to avoid paying higher fee.
 
Got reply any mobile purchase no longer fetching points and any electronics you purchase where mobile phones also sold you will no longer get points. Be careful.
Wrong information, no where in the mail its written that mobile purchase will not fetch points.

They have mentioned clearly that as the MCC of that purchase was of Telecom MCC (on which they have limit), max RPs have been credited. I had purchased From Samsung store in Aug (S23U) and had gotten 3.3% as RP as MCC was of electronics shop.

No body would think that Samsung store will have such mcc but it is what it is and Infinia/hdfc has nothing to do with it (Retailer's fault).

When in doubt, its better to confirm with owner or do Rs.1/2 txn and check mcc via customer care before making the purchase.

i bought from a Samsung exclusive store where hdfc discount was applied on hdfc machine and pinelab machine (in the mail it's clearly written, read again "telephone sales") its not retailer shop its the machine coded to a physical store which is given by Samsung it has nothing to do with retailer also it's beyond his control, if a discount has to apply for a phone tagged to his store and product then he has to use that pos machine. anyways its aug and I have August tran and have points for the same. Oct Nov no more points. and all pos machine will be changed in coming days where this MCC will come up. what more you can ask for telecom and telecom sales

JK dude. I think op got over motivated after seeing a dozen axis devaluation threads.
what miss information? you think i am new to MCC game? nothing like that same store I have done previously got points last month and this month no points it went for capping. do note I am fighting for this already with bank for this mail sent they gave above replay.

Actually @NOOBY is right. Its the retailer. He must have multiple machines with different mcc code. It has happened to me as well. Many hotels/resort have random mcc code which has nothing to do with their offerings.

When you set up a pos machine, the card nws(visa/rupay/mc) allocate mcc code. It doesn't vary with the items you are buying. In ecom sites they can give you variable gateway/mcc code but in offline it is fixed.

The mdr charges depends on this mcc code( & other factors like transaction value/volume). So sometimes merchants request/argue for a specific mcc.

pos machine is not given to a retailer by his asking or shop setup. do understand this first. its the phone brand tags pos and then gives pos machines to exclusive store for the offers to work on the product. please ask exclusive stores first on pos machine who issues for a product discount to apply and how these pos machine work for discount on a product for brand emi etc (pos machine also is not in the control of retailer stores for MCC its the phone brand that decided and sends out there pos (retailer is just owner for pos rest all decision are by phone brand which is beyond there control)

Change the store man, I guess on some other store you will get card discount as well as uncapped points
as per the conversion with store it was informed that yes the pos machine was replaced last last month by Samsung, same apply to all in coming days to all stores, where discount applies for a product.

These offers are not exclusive to brand outlets. Most of these offers are valid in multi brand outlets and even small stand alone shops. Most retailers selling samsung products have same hdfc prepaid/emi offer not just on mobile but on tv/fridge etc as well.

yes that's 2 months back now all pos machines will be replaced by phone brands and a mandatory move by PINE LABS and HDFC for selling telecom devices because the MCC is bought under one line under telecoms, the whole conversion in this thread is to give information to the team members is to beware of such as this will be coming in future for all members. (here I am not worried for points and never will because my transactions are such off where its never about points. its when I checked the statement this month and went back and forth I understood something was missing, and finally its shown.
