DCB HDFC Addon number different from Primary

Hi everyone,

I received my HDFC DCB Metal Addon today. To my surprise, it has different card no. compared to my primary.
  1. I can see the addon card while setting up card controls or changing pin in mycards app. When I changed card limit or set pin, I got a mail saying addon card no. XXXX changed. But they mention primary card no. over there in place of XXXX.
  2. I don't see addon on Netbanking, when i click on addon controls. I can add addon card separately on Netbanking tho.
  3. I also checked the OTP. The OTP came on the addon mobile number!
@Ankit Goyal also received a different card number for his addon.
  1. Does anyone know about this change from HDFC? This is a big change in their card policy.
  2. Since my Primary Card is FYF, would the addon too remain FYF?
  3. Since card nos. are different, would the spending milestones of addon be counted on Primary?
I have mailed HDFC about this. Meanwhile would be helpful if forum experts can share any info on this.

Sounds like better way is to close existing card before.
But it's surprising why cust care cannot close the old add on as they have different numbers to the new add ons, right?
I got new add on card for the same relation. But I added initial at the end of name to be printed on the new card so that they don't deny the card already exists. Might be that helped. Seamlessly set pin. Closed the old add on easily as well, as i asked to close the card without initial and they processed

Yeah this way even they would have been able to distinguish..in my case we can't do this and its more like a gamble which one gets deactivated. I think best would be to close all and get new. Anyways I don't have any such urgency and am not visiting home till next month so will sort it by blocking all addons if not resolved by hdfc.

I applied for an addon card via sending the forms to the Chennai office last Thursday and today on tuesday, I see the addon added to my net banking account. Its a different card number and all msgs are going to the new phone number.

I have also done the same. Where did you check the card number in net banking? I see same card number only.

I just received my upgraded DCB Metal with 2 add on cards and unfortunately all three have the same number despite RBI issuing a directive.

I assume only newly created add on cards would be issued with a different number and all others would have the same as primary card.

I appplied for DCB addon, for existing addon user. Received card with different number. It was added to addon account through netbanking, but unable to add it to mycards. OTP for registration on NB went to primary card. Will try initiating a txn, to see if OTP is received on addon number or not

When i apply via app or website, i get an error for existing user. How did you apply ? Can you share the steps

Open credit card page & select the credit card. Scroll down on that page, you'll find a section "Add-on Cards" listing existing addons. Below that there is a request card option. I used that. Same CID, name everything.

So I finally received the add on DCB which has a different number and also all OTP/transaction SMS are delivered to add-on number. My cards also added on add on number. The problem is I don't see the transactions done on Add-on card from my Primary net banking login. I need to use add-on mycards app to see the transactions done. Technically I cannot know how much is being spent via my add-on card. Any one any idea how I can see the spends on add on card?

OTP sent to primary number. Not idea why

I hold HDFC Millennia (have same number of credit card on both primary and add-on card) and while doing a transaction today, it asked if the OTP needs to be sent to add-on or continue with primary card's mobile number. This is something new I saw.
