Pro Tips-

Simple way to make Any basic to mid range SBI card LTF is to "Just raise a closure of card account request through Sbi card app .After few hours you will receive a call to ask a reason for cancellation ,there tell them Either make it Life time free or cancel the card. They will make your Card LTF.Done on my both sbi card and now both are LTF.Service request to make your card LTF is taken as PCT id is to be changed. You can check in service request tracking menu.

Caution:-If you holding multiple cards of SBI then kindly do this process at one card at a time only.Do on other card after at least month. If at any point SBI Card is not agreeing on LTF and offering you Annual Fee waivers only then Accept Fee waivers at that moment and Apply the same trick Again after 1 or 2 months for LTF.
IF ANYONE HAVING ANY SPECEFIC CONCERN THEN DO DM.

Edit 1-If afterall anyone missed the call from retention team then they can simply call customer care and there simply tell them to connect/transfer you call to retention team as i want to discuss regarding my card closure request. They will connect you to their retention team and now there you can project the above trick to get your card LTF ..

Edit 2(09 July 2023)-Even people have made sbi cards having fee upto 1499 LTF and even higher varriant cards you will get equivalent reward points or miles or annual fee waiver in place of LTF.

Edit 3(15 October 2023)- Even people have made their SBI cashback credit card LTF by their skill of negotiation.

Edit 4-Now a days SBI Cards sometime, closing the card without calling so suggest now dont place request through app by self .Call customer care directly and ask them for LTF/fee waivers or to transfer the call to retention team for doing the same.

Thanks @Rkr! A couple months ago I had my dad's SimplyClick made LTF, and today I finally managed to get my Cashback card also LTF 😁

Now the only paid cards I have are of Axis which have no hope of becoming LTF...

Plz share ur journey, age of cards, spends, etc
The SimplyCLICK is ancient, and we've even paid the fee several time I suppose. Pretty much only used for offers. Placed a closure request on the site, got a call before the page refreshed, and was instantly offered LTF when annual fees was mentioned as the reason.

CASHBACK was 1.5 years old. Spent about 4L in the previous year I suppose, with occassional forex spends. First requested closure on the app after paying the outstanding, was offered fee waiver and stuff (newly added, not present for SimplyCLICK), and when those were refused, was asked for preferred time for a call but didn't get it. Waited for 2 days and bought a ₹100 gift card on it to prevent auto-closure. Then a week passed and I ended up spending another 4k or so. A couple days later got a message saying the request couldn't be processed.
Paid the outstanding again and today I requested closure through the website (received those offers here also this time). Got the call and while I could hardly understand anything he was saying, managed to continue the conversation and was instantly offered LTF once again when annual fee was mentioned.

Did you feel it was a bit harder to make cashback SBI card LTF as compared to SimplyCLICK? I also managed to make my SimplyCLICK LTF and am planning to request for the same for the cashback card to SBI after 6 months.

If you have more than 2L spends on the CB card, it helps to the cause to a great extent

They will take LTF request for Cashback after 1 year. Even I was denied to give LTF but after 3 months they offered LTF for cashback card. Nothing is impossible.

I have tried this method for SBI Prime, they didn't agree for LTF and the SR raised for annual fees reversal was declined..... Has anyone been successful in converting SBI prime to LTF?
If yes, how old was your card & what was total spending on your card??

On SBI Prime, they usually offer retention with 12000 points which is 3000 rs. So you only effectively pay GST as annual fees if the spends on card are >1L. For less than 1L spends they offer retention with 8000 points only.

However some people have been able to convert to LTF. Check this post - https://www.technofino.in/community...e-a-sbi-card-life-time-free.10592/post-397683

You need to specifically ask for connecting the call to retention team. They have the power to give additional points. Normal cc executives can only raise SRs

I had talked to retention team person only..... I specifically mentioned about annual fees...... I will try again after few days after making some more spends or else will downgrade it to SBI BPCL ( hope that it will be easier to convert to LTF )

My renewal is coming in March. Already crossed spend waiver requirement but LTF is always good. Should I ask for LTF in Feb or after March when 1 year completes?

If you ask after anniversary, it will be easier for them to give you ltf

I put in the card closure request on my 5 year old SBI SimplyClick through the SBI Cards app. The app offered a fee waver offer and I didn't take. Got the call from the retention team the moment I submitted the request. When I explained why its no longer worth it for me to pay fees on the card, he checked and informed that the card can be converted into LTF if I would continue the card. I agreed and the request has been taken, and I've been told it will be completed in a couple of days.
I actually started out with SimplySave, then flipped to Click 4 years ago. Always had above 100000 spends on the card prior to this year where I've managed a spend of around 60000.
