Super Premium Credit Card

Momo_Scooby

TF Select
VIP Lounge
I want a super premium credit card for my wife (she is a working professional).
The basic expectation from that card is
  • It has lounge access to Domestic(080 BLR of Bangalore Airport) and International (as for the international lounge person has to have a card with his/her name right?)
  • the equivalent value of points/rewards/vouchers equal to the card fee will be good as I myself have already many cards in my name.
I have the following super premium cards in my name

Axis Magnus - Paid(10000) (credit limit 7 lakhs)
HDFC Diners Black - LTF (credit limit 6.95 lakhs)
SC Ultimate - Paid(5000) (credit limit 5.5 lakhs)

Why DCB over magnus ?
DCB may have a few advantages over Magnus. DCB has a reward rate of 3.3%, whereas Magnus has lower(~1.2%). Although, if your monthly expenses are 1L+, Magnus outweighs DCB(even Infinia for that matter).
Another thing, DCB is more exclusive than Magnus. DCB criteria is 1.75L per month net salary, and Magnus has 18L gross salary. Just saying.
Lastly, it's your call. Both are good, although Magnus is the top card from Axis.

The foolish people at idfc are giving her select card, which she is not interested in
Try telling them your wife nets ~2.5L per month. They may come around.

You're comparing 3.3% airmiles/hotel to 1.2% Gift voucher.
Yes. I'm considering 1:1 redemption for flights/hotels. Not sure if magnus offers 1:1 redemption in any form

Note: Magnus provides equivalent gift voucher for annual fee paid whereas DCB nothing. So, for 4L spends (including annual fee) DCB returns -ve, whereas Magnus ~0.5% (gift voucher).
You're right. If DCB doesn't provide any points(unlike Infinia), Magnus has upper hand. Although, DCB has 5L waiver vs Magnus' 15L.

I guess both have pros and cons. For instance, DCB has less acceptance than Magnus. It chiefly depends upon the lifestyle of user.
I just mentioned a few points where DCB can score

I would say your forecasted annual spends play a critical role here. I’m opting for DCB as my annual spends on HDFC card are likely to be in the 4-6 lakh bracket. Considering DCB wont be LTF, I would get the renewal fee waived off. That’s important for me.

ah got it.

i don't have infinia as i collect only ltf cards.
but that card satisfies your requirements subject to their eligibility criteria of income > 2.75L pm credited in Bank. in my experience hdfc is quite strict on this.

EDIT: also i forgot to mention that 080 is pretty random in which cards they allow, going by posts shared by everyone on this community in the last few months. premium card rejected while basic cards accepted. they also keep changing their accepted list frequently.
From personal experience, HDFC Diners Club Black card is accepted at 080 Domestic Lounge Bengaluru Airport T1. Also, Amex cards which provide lounge access are accepted here. Priority pass is also accepted, but your associated card will most probably charge you $27 if you use it within India. Other cards, as you said, the list keeps changing.
