What triggers credit limit enhancement from HDFC

I currently hold HDFC Millennia (7+ years) and Neu Infinity (4 months), and have been stuck with my current credit limit for over 2 years now. I have no defaults and I also have a salary account with the bank, but that never helped in moving the needle. I have also tried every trick suggested to me to trigger a credit limit enhancement or an upgrade from the bank without any success.
  • I have underspent (less than 10k a month for 6 months)
  • I have overspent (more than 3L in a quarter)
  • I took a second card in Tata Neu Infinity and spent 1.9L in the first 3 months
  • I wrote to the CC team, grievance redressal, priority redressal, escalation desk, and PNO
  • I spoke with my corporate RM, and escalation contact
  • I even spoke to my RM (this must tell you how desperate I must have gotten)
But every time it is the same thing. Either they ask me to wait another 6 months, or they tell me that I already have the best limit they can offer. What also annoys me is that HDFC has quoted my credit limit (4.5L) as a reason for not offering Regalia Gold and DCB, even though Regalia Gold isn't on the same level as DCB. They are offering Diners Privilege to me on FYF basis but aren't giving a higher limit with the upgrade.

I am fresh out of ideas and, to be honest, a bit frustrated after seeing people getting their Neu cards converted to LTF, receiving everything from 10% to 200% limit enhancements, LTF Swiggy, and LTF Regalia Gold on corporate offers (which I also qualify, btw) while I get nothing. So, I would love to know if there's anything I can do in order to tip the scales in my favour?

I can tell you what perhaps has induced HDFC to shower me with routine, large LEs on my Moneyback CC over the years (but no upgrades)!

It is just a variation on what I've quoted above:

* I have underspent (less than 10k an year for 6 years)! (or pretty much so).

... And I am not kidding! 🙂

--- I have long since stopped trying to figure out how HDFC's logic works!

Damn! You're playing spending limbo and winning!

Unfortunately, I am neither that flexible nor do I have such a low center of gravity. Kidding aside, I doubt I can ever do this but I can attempt it by getting the Swiggy card. All my grocery, insurance and offline transactions have already moved to Neu Infinity, so maybe I can move all remaining online and food transactions to Swiggy. That way, the Millennia becomes unused and maybe HDFC would take notice? Worth a shot, I suppose

SBI's netbanking is much superior to HDFC's in my view. And that serves most of my requirements.
.
My experience with SBI netbanking has been very poor. I have had to visit the home branch for every little thing. In fact, despite having switched my home branch years ago, the netbanking portal still shows my home branch to be the older one. I can't change branch, communication address, or any personal details for that matter via netbanking and neither can I do the KYC online. I have also had more serious problems where transactions (like NEFT, RTGS) have been shown to be successful but actually didn't go through.

In my experience, netbanking is the one thing that has made it possible for me to tolerate SBI.

As a frequent user, fortunately never had problems with RTGS/NEFT/IMPS, believe it or not.

To change address, mobile no. etc. you do have to go to the branch, but HDFC has been no better in this regard in my experience.

Read some threads about it, that won't get core card if first card is co-branded. At the least Millennia, not much useful for me though as I hold Flipkart Axis but for upgrade in future. I would have got Millennia if I knew earlier. Better late than never.
I'm asking specifically because I have gone through threads. Regalia is issued even after neu but millennia is not issued.

Finally I got LE yesterday on my millenia, after 6 glorious years... from 2.77 to 3.6.
Last LE was in May 2018 from 1.2 to 2.77.

In between these 6 years, even the card got upgraded, but not the limit on it. HDFC upgraded my moneyback to millenia in March 2022 as they had discontinued moneyback.

Current usage:
I'm hardly using this card from past ~1 year, except for some bills/recharges which I've to pay through this card only for reimbursement, as this card is mapped in my office's reimbursement portal. In last 10 months, 2 months have bill ~4k, 6 months less than ₹800 & 2 months absolute zero! Last bill was infact ₹95 only. So no idea how & why they're offering this LE now, that too just 30%.

PS: I've cards from ICICI, SC, IDFC & Yes bank with CL > 9.5L each, but I guess this doesn't matter for HDFC.

This seems to be the pattern for HDFC. I looked back at my sms and email history to find out a similar pattern. My limit went from 1.3L to 4.2L in the first 3 years; a period where I did not use my card that much. However, in the last 4 years, my usage has been many degrees higher and I received LE just once.

Man! I wish that were true for me. Bigbasket and Swiggy are in the top 3 of online platforms in terms of my spends, amazon being the third. I also have a really high annual spending on insurance, where Neu Infinity shines.

I genuinely wanted to step away from HDFC, but they keep coming up with great cobranded cards. I am honestly considering the Swiggy as well, but even without it, there are no cards that can rival Neu Infinity and Millennia at the moment. SBI Cashback is a good alternative for Millennia, but closing a core card to hold just cobranded ones seems like a bad move. And when it comes to salary accounts, my company gives me the option to choose between HDFC, ICICI, Axis and SBI. I don't think I am too far off when I call HDFC the lesser evil (I have had an SBI account for 13 years, and there's no way I would rate them higher than HDFC)
By ignore, I mean the so called HDFC core cards. Even my daily driver is Tata Neu Infinity.

Aah, gotcha! And same here, btw. I am loving NEU Infinity and it has taken over 60-70% of all my CC transactions. And now that amazon pay doesn't allow partial payments using the apay balance, I might be done with the Apay CC as well. Good riddance, I say, considering what's been going on recently with ICICI.

I'll probably apply for the Swiggy CC and follow in your footsteps of forgetting about core HDFC cards
