RBI complaint on Standard Chartered Bank

It was pretty nasty experience.

Early Feb 2024, I applied via Cashkaro for rewards platinum card of SCB, but then cashkaro rewards never got tracked. Cashkaro team mentioned that my application is incomplete or something. I figured out that my card was issued as part of different application. (May be they are doing this to avoid giving commission to Cashkaro). This also caused double CIBIL enquiry.

Also they messed up the delivery address also... had to roam around the post office to finally get my card. My permanent address is messed up but communication address is intact (both should be same actually). Customer care denied sorting out the issue, wanted me to physically visit branch and submit form.

So I raised a complaint to remove duplicate CIBIL enquiry via email, they were not ready to accept the mistake. They were willing to close my card but not ready to fix it.

After few back and forth, they claim that issue is fixed and close the ticket, asking me to wait 45 days so same would reflect. When I checked it later, issue is intact. They kept asking me to send CIBIL report officially downloaded from CIBIL website.

I raised RBI complaint at this phase, got call from PNO office but it was rude lady. Kept saying same issue is resolved from their end. I asked for compensation but she was willing to credit only 500 rupees. When I said I spent more $ on CIBIL sub to send them reports multiple times, she agreed to reimburse CIBIL sub expenses.

I went ahead and demanded for SCB ultimate card LTF, which she obviously denied. She cut the call saying I'm not going to get anything as issue is resolved. I received mail from RBI Ranchi about the resolution, but I objected to resolution. Neither CIBIl got corrected nor I got any compensation. This happened in April time frame.

Both SCB and RBI went missing July. No one responded to emails. I tried speaking with RBI helpline... but they said complaint is open and all I can do it wait. There is no other option.

Twitter was helpful at this stage, they kept claiming that issue is resolved but nothing really happened. I called PNO office and threatened them exposing their lies. Within a week, I got email that request has been raised to CIBIL and same would reflect in 45 days. This was in Sept.

A week later, I got call from CIBIL... the lady confirmed that this is the first time they received suppression request for my account & they have processed the same. Turns out that SCB somehow never raised the request to CIBIL. CIBIL team confirmed this over email, and blame is on SCB.

I started demanding for compensation as per RBI guidelines, but my request kept getting closed without any proper resolution. Had to regularly tag them on twitter with evidence and call PNO to get them to act.

I have been with ICICI, HDFC, CITIBANK, IDFC, HDFC, SBI, HSBC, YES bank, RBL and few more, but SCB turns out to be having the worst customer service.

@vijay.vj Ye toh aada mein hi khatam kar diye aap...pura nahi lag raha, CIBIL se pata laga SC jhoot bol raha tha, even evidence bhi mil gaya email pe uske baad kya kya huwa uska mention nahi hai...😬

I had two issues to pursue...
1. Double CIBIL enquiry
2. Lies peddled by SC by claiming issue is resolved despite not solving it.

You haven't mentioned the exact date, when you raised the complaint. How someone can make calculation, you hadn't even conveyed to RBI.

You are entitled to receive 100/day after the completion of 30 days from the date of raising the concern. So, check when you had raised the concern in Feb, add 30 days on that date, from there to Sep 30, should be taken in consideration to calculate the same.

Then reply against the same mail, u have been asked to reply by tomorrow only. So, don't delay further, put the facts when you had raised and when it got updated/corrected, and hence your eligible for....days, ....×100= ₹....but not 15800. So, you are asking RBI, to make an order to credit balance amount of ₹... also, which is yet to be credited.

Mein chahu toh prove kar sakta hoon magar better rahega aap hi acha se research karye, 30 ke baad se calculation, na ki compliant date se.

Bhuat din ho gaye no doubt, magar sab chiz toh electronically exchange huwa hoga na, ussi se extract karte, anyway koi baat nahi 🙂

You are right, calculation starts after initial 30 days.

Unfortunately when you search for documents, its easy to find it from secondary sources then the primary. pdicai is just some CA community

Yes it's easy, but we can't rely on it, atleast we need to cross check it, especially when we need to make an argument in legal battle.

Send one another mail stating, that previous mail was kept in draft, it was sent mistakenly where there's calculation mistake. Calculate again and quote the calculation (full) in that mail.
According to my calculation, you're entitled to receive ₹4000 more, if calculation part is correct based on such dates. Don't forget to attach the documantary evidence, that the complaint was raised by you on Feb 17.

P.S: Give refrence where you will compliant filing date as screenshot/image/PDF attached.

That's the spirit. It's not about money or compensation, it's about teaching the banks that they can't do whatever they wish. There's a reason RBI calls them RE (regulated entity).



P. S. Don't know how I missed this. Guess the notification has some bugs.
