If you have active CIBIL profile with some credit history say atleast an year, you can negotiate Millinea / Regalia Gold (tough though) while opening (NTB Customer) an Imperia banking. They would have tried to get approvals. As you opened account already just talk to RM who guided for on boarding for getting a core card.

I'm an international student currently studying in the UK. I'm considering getting a Diners or Infinia card in my parents' name and then obtaining an add-on card for myself, but I'm not sure when that will be possible.
Even HDFC people are smart. They will close the credit card if you cancel the policy
Nothing special, I have an Imperia status but still holding the Platinum debit card. I did not find any difference between the Platinum and Imperia platinum.
